Garland Fire Department Accepting Applications
The Garland Fire Department is recruiting candidates interested in a career as a firefighter.

Online applications will be accepted through 5 p.m. Monday, July 29.

Senior Social Hour at the Library Thursday, July 18
Seniors can experience the resurgence of a cappella music with a performance by Smooth Brew at the Nicholson Memorial Library System's upcoming Senior Social Hour, 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at the Central Library, 625 Austin St.

For this performance, the quartet  will present classic oldies and doo-wop tunes from their extensive repertoire.

Neighborhood Vitality Matching Grant Workshop Thursday, July 18
The Neighborhood Vitality Matching Grant program enables registered neighborhood groups, both voluntary and mandatory, to apply for matching funds for physical enhancement projects in publicly accessible spaces. 

Attend this free workshop from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at the Main Street Municipal Building, 800 Main St., to gain valuable technical assistance and learn helpful tips for completing a successful project.  Register now .
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers Opens Friday, July 19
Garland Summer Musicals continues its sensational 2019 season with the song-and-dance spectacular Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Performances continue through July 28.

In this Broadway and film classic, Adam, a grizzled pioneer woodsman, and his new wife, Milly, return to Adam's cabin to begin their lives together. Milly discovers that Adam's six ill-mannered, backwoods brothers also live in the cabin. As Milly begins teaching the brothers proper manners, the brothers kidnap six local girls in hopes of having their own wives like Milly.

A Community Conversation Saturday, July 20
The Community Multicultural Commission invites you to A Community Conversation 
from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 20, at Gale Fields Recreation Center, 1701 Dairy Road. 
Topics will include the 2020 census, building permit process, code enforcement frequently identified issues, Literacy for Life, and safety.

Latest Water Quality Report Available Online
Garland's newest Drinking Water Report is now available online. In the report you will find the results of year-long water testing throughout the city. Garland continues to earn top ratings from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
