City to Celebrate, Redevelop Its First Hospital Site
From 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, the City will celebrate and collect memories from the former hospital and residences at 1002 Marion Drive as it prepares to redevelop the property.

Join us as we bid farewell and welcome positive change at this location. Attendees will be able to share their memories and provide input, and enjoy tasty treats. All are welcome!

Demolition will happen this month. The City is hiring a consultant to work with residents and the City Council for feedback and to develop plans for the next stage for the 1.67-acre property. Learn more.

Neighborhood Vitality Matching Grant applications are due Wednesday, March 23.

The program enables registered neighborhood groups, both voluntary and mandatory, to get help with improvements to publicly accessible spaces.
These projects encourage neighbors to work together to create projects unique to their neighborhood while boosting a sense of pride and ownership.

Garland Library Hosts Green Cards 101 Presentation 
Local immigration attorney Tanille Royston will present an information session about the process of obtaining a Green Card at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at the Central Library, 625 Austin St.

Attendees will gain a general understanding of the U.S. Green Card (or Permanent Resident Card) process and learn about Green Card eligibility, general processes and procedures.

Spring Rain Barrel Sale
The City of Garland Water Utilities Department is offering an opportunity to purchase rain barrels at a discounted price. Through a cooperative purchase, the classic black, 50-gallon Ivy rain barrel is being offered for $78 each (normal retail price is $139).

Barrels must be ordered by Tuesday, April 5, and must be picked up from Garland Water Operations, 2343 Forest Lane, between 3 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, or Wednesday, April 20. Please bring a vehicle large enough to carry your order on pickup day.

COVID-19 Vaccines, Boosters Available at Garland's Public Health Clinic

You can get the COVID-19 vaccine or booster without an appointment at our Public Health Clinic, 206 Carver St., between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Lawn Care Assistance Available
The Garland Code Compliance Department is accepting applications for the Lawn Care Assistance Program until all spots are filled. This program will provide summer mowing for seniors (age 60 or older) and disabled Garland homeowners who are physically and/or financially unable to maintain their yards to comply with City codes and have no other assistance available. Applications are available online and can also be picked up at our Code Compliance office, 210 Carver St., Suite 101.
