Join us in Downtown Garland from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 1, for Big Art Day and Big Art After Dark presented by the City of Garland and Garland Cultural Arts.
Big Art Day celebrates and showcases artists and the arts in Garland. Visitors to Big Art Day can view and purchase work at the Art Market, explore exhibits at Granville Arts Center, participate in interactive hands-on crafts for kids, and enjoy live entertainment.

GP&L 100th Anniversary Thank You Garland Celebration Saturday, April 15
From the moment Garland Power & Light flipped the switch on April 1, 1923, it has had the Garland community at heart. So as GP&L marks the first 100 years of its journey, it’s only fitting that all of Garland joins the celebration.
GP&L’s 100th Anniversary Thank You Garland Celebration will take place from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at the Winters Park Amphitheater, 1419 Spring Creek Drive. Enjoy live music, food trucks, line work demonstrations, kids’ activities and more!

NAACP Garland Unit Political Forum Saturday, April 1
The NAACP Garland Unit will host a Political Forum at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at the North Garland Branch Library, 3845 N. Garland Ave.
Question and get to know the candidates in the May 6 local election.

Egg Scramble Wednesday, April 5
Hop on over to Audubon Park for a chance to hunt for colorful candy and toy-filled eggs! The egg hunt is free and no registration is necessary.
Activities include bounce houses, face painting, selfies with the Easter Bunny and snacks for sale.
All age groups will start the hunt at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the Carter Softball Complex in Audubon Park, 550 W. Oates Road.

Plaza Movie Classic: "I Can Only Imagine" Wednesday, April 5
The City of Garland Cultural Arts Department presents a free showing of the 2018 film "I Can Only Imagine" (rated PG) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the Plaza Theatre, 521 W. State St.
The inspiring and unknown true story behind MercyMe's beloved, chart-topping song that brings ultimate hope to so many is a gripping reminder of the power of true forgiveness.

Paint Punny Planters at the Library
Give your favorite plant a little extra personality at our Punny Planters program at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at the South Garland Branch Library, 4845 Broadway Blvd.
Participants ages 12 and older can paint terra cotta pots and use stencils to incorporate punny sayings like “You grow, girl” and “You’re my soil-mate.”

Rain Barrel Sale Through Wednesday, April 12
The City of Garland Water Utilities Department is offering an opportunity to purchase rain barrels at a discounted price. Through a cooperative purchase, the classic black, 50-gallon Ivy rain barrel is available for $78 each (normal retail price is $143).
Barrels must be ordered by 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, and must be picked up from Garland Water Operations, 2343 Forest Lane, between 3 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, or Wednesday, April 26. Please bring a vehicle large enough to carry your order on pickup day. Order yours today!

Dallas Area Rapid Transit Board Appointment

The City is accepting applications for a place on the Board of Directors for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) through Friday, March 31. The responsibility for the operation and control of DART properties is vested in the Board of Directors. The unexpired term runs through June 30, 2024. Learn more.
Flu Shots and Bivalent COVID-19 Booster Available at Garland Public Health Clinic
This year's flu vaccine and the bivalent COVID-19 booster are available at the Garland Public Health Clinic. Flu shots are available for adults, children and seniors who are insured. Low-cost flu vaccines for uninsured children and adults are also available. It is recommended that individuals wait at least two months after completion of the primary COVID vaccination series or their most recent booster.
