The Garland Health Department has received reports of 493 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Garland residents, as well as 14 deaths. The City will update our posted case numbers each afternoon after 2 p.m.



Phased Reopening Begins Statewide
Texas Governor Greg Abbott's  Strike Force to Open Texas  has created a set of guidelines for reopening business as the COVID-19 situation progresses. The plan includes guidance for individuals, business, customers and more.

The Garland City Council 
is meeting weekly to stay up to date and responsive to the ever-changing situation.  Learn more about the steps the City is taking to follow state guidelines in phased reopening.
Guidance for Reopening Buildings After Prolonged Shutdown
For businesses and other buildings that have been unoccupied for some time due to the pandemic, it is vitally important that water lines are flushed before the water is used.

Resources for Fact-Checking Fraud, Scams and Rumors
Rumors are common during emergency and crisis situations. To find trusted sources, look for information from official public health and safety authorities. You can find many official sources at  coronavirus.gov. On social media, be sure to check for a blue verified badge next to the account name.

Garland Youth Council Accepting Applications Through June 5
Interested Garland residents who will be in grades 9-12 during the 2020-21 school year are eligible to apply to serve on the Garland Youth Council.

Plan Commission
May 11
The Garland Plan Commission meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. 

City Council Meeting
May 12
City Council will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 12.

Due to COVID-19 public gathering restrictions, both the City Council and Plan Commission meetings will be virtual.  You can watch the meetings online. The virtual meeting link will be included in the individual meeting agenda. You may participate by telephone. Dial-in numbers will be posted with the virtual meeting information.
