Celebrate Thirsty Third Thursdays in Downtown Garland from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21.
 
Visit participating locations during their extended business hours, take advantage of their specials and enjoy a complimentary beverage while you shop.

Campfire Tales on the Square Saturday, Oct. 23
Enjoy a campfire on the Downtown Square while listening to true accounts, tall tales and criminal activities.

The spooky fun will take place Saturday, Oct. 23. Settle in around the fire for campfire tales from 6 to 7 p.m., then stick around for free s'mores from 7 to 8 p.m.

The event is free and no registration is required.

Trunk-or-Treat and Garland Graveyard Friday, Oct. 29

Enjoy a night of frightful fun Friday, Oct. 29, at Bradfield Recreation Center, 1146 Castle Drive.

Get dressed up and enjoy trick-or-treating, games and a costume contest for kids from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Seeking something scarier? Walk over to the Garland Graveyard to experience the spookiest haunted house in Garland from 6 to 8 p.m. Bring two canned goods per person for the Salvation Army Corps of Garland.

Ghost Tales for Adults Friday, Oct. 29

Ready for creepy fun not for kids?

The Dallas Storytelling Guild presents an evening of ghost stories and tales of horror for adults at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at The Atrium Courtyard at the Granville Arts Center, 300 N. Fifth St.

Featuring local professional storytellers, the Guild has hosted an annual Halloween adult ghost story concert for more than 20 years.

The program is free, but donations to the organization are appreciated. Masks and social distancing are strongly suggested. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tricks and Treats at the Library Saturday, Oct. 30

Join us for a fun and spooky family event from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the South Garland Branch Library, 4845 Broadway Blvd.

Enjoy games, crafts for children and adults, treats and a children's costume parade and contest. Costume parade and contest will start at 3 p.m.

There's something for everyone, even prizes!

Ghost Tour Saturday, Oct. 30

Join Good Samaritans of Garland Saturday, Oct. 30, for a fun family event. Learn about the history and mystery that surrounds Downtown Garland.

Each ghost tour participant will receive a nylon backpack filled with event items. Use it to collect Halloween candy at each ghost tour stop!

Tickets are $25. All proceeds benefit Good Samaritans of Garland to assist with feeding, helping and serving the food insecure in the community.

Registration will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Plaza Theatre, 521 W. State St. First tour begins at 5:30. Get your tickets today!
Dia de los Muertos Monday, Nov. 1
The Dia de los Muertos tradition continues from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, in the Downtown Garland Square!

Join us in honoring past loved ones at this free event with performances by Los Matachines, various Garland Independent School District and I.L. Texas student performances from mariachi to ballet folklorico and more! There will be face painting, bounce house, kids’ crafts and altar displays as well.

COVID-19 Vaccines, Boosters Available at Garland's Public Health Clinic

You can get the COVID-19 vaccine without an appointment at our Public Health Clinic, 206 Carver Drive, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Garland Health Department is now providing boosters for the COVID-19 vaccine to those the declared eligible by the Centers for Disease Control. A third dose registration form, eligibility information and more vaccine information are available at GarlandTX.gov.
Flu Shots Now Available at Garland's Public Health Clinic

The Garland Public Health Clinic, 206 Carver Drive, has received its first shipment of vaccine for the 2021-22 flu season.

Flu shots are available from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays for adults, children and seniors who are insured. Low-cost flu vaccines for uninsured children and adults are also now available.

City Council Meetings
Oct. 18 and 19
The Garland City Council Work Session will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18. Regular Meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St. Council will discuss the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 during the Regular Meeting.

Neighborhood Awards Applications and Nominations Due
Oct. 28
The City of Garland's Office of Neighborhood Vitality is looking to recognize those who make extraordinary efforts to enhance, revitalize or invest in their neighborhoods. Applications and nominations are due Thursday, Oct. 28. Winners will be announced at the Neighborhood Summit Pre-Conference Mixer Thursday, Nov. 4. COVID-19 Updates
As of Thursday, Oct. 14, the Garland Health Department has received reports of 864 active cases out of 38,651 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Garland residents since the beginning of the pandemic, as well as 566 deaths. The City updates its posted case numbers each Monday and Thursday.
