Neighborhood Leader Meet & Greet Tuesday, Sept. 24
Join us for the third quarter Neighborhood Leader Meet & Greet at  6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at The Atrium at the Granville Arts Center, 300 N. Fifth St.

You will hear City updates, network with neighborhood leaders from across Garland and learn of possible opportunities for your neighborhood. 

The event is free. Dinner is provided, so please RSVP so we can plan accordingly.
Garland Guzzler Saturday, Sept. 28
Did you miss out on the inaugural Garland Guzzler 0.5K Race last year? Well, we are proud to announce the fun-filled and award-winning event is coming back Saturday, Sept. 28, and will be better than ever! In fact, the event is featured in the current issue of D Magazine as one of the best small-town festivals!

Join your fellow racers for an evening of Oktoberfest-themed racing, games, food and live music. We hope to see everyone on their best or "wurst" behavior.

Garland Honored with Recycling Awards
The City of Garland was a triple honoree on Friday, Sept. 13, when the North Texas Corporate Recycling Association presented its gR3een Awards at the Dallas Arboretum.
Go Green Garland was recognized for its Earth Day event with the association's Innovative Recycling Event award. 
The City's Public & Media Relations Department landed the association's Green Media award for marketing support for its partnership with Garland Environmental Waste Services to promote recycling and resource conservation.
Environmental Waste Services intern Ximena Coronado, a Garland High School senior, was honored as Recycler of the Year.  Learn more .
National Good Neighbor Day Is Saturday, Sept. 28 
Show them some love on National Good Neighbor Day with a kind note, baked goods or random acts of kindness. 

The good times are just getting started! Gear up for the upcoming National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Show how you and your neighbors are making your mark and celebrating these events by sharing and tagging them on social media with #GarlandNeighbors and #MYMGarland. 
Celebrate National Night Out Tuesday, Oct. 1 
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. 

Share your celebrations on social media and tag them with #GarlandNeighbors and #MYMGarland. 

In observance of this event, City Council will meet Monday, Oct. 7, and Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Save the date for several fun events happening around Garland. Whether you want to help clean up, get crafty or go camping, there's something for everyone!
Tri-City Cleanup
8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5

Keep Garland Beautiful, Keep Dallas Beautiful and Keep Rowlett Beautiful are partnering to host a cleanup of Lake Ray Hubbard as part of the Keep Texas Waterways Clean Program. 
Check-in begins at 8 a.m. at the Hella Shrine Pavilion, 2121 Rowlett Road. After a morning of cleaning up the lakeshore, volunteers will enjoy a fun-filled Volunteer Appreciation Picnic. Register now.
Adult Craft Workshop
2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5

Adults can learn how to turn T-shirts into yarn for making coasters, placemats and rugs at the South Garland Branch Library, 4845 Broadway Blvd. Each participant will make a coaster with their yarn.
Attendees will need to bring their own T-shirt, though all additional supplies will be provided by the library. Registration is required and limited to 24 participants. Call 972-205-3931 to register.

Garland's Gone Camping
3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, to 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6
Grab your tent and sleeping bags for a night under the stars with family and friends at Audubon Park, 342 W. Oates Road.
Enjoy a night hike, games, s'mores, a camp fire and a movie. Dinner and breakfast provided!

The Garland Plan Commission meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St View agendas  at and be sure to click the "subscribe" button to receive notifications when meeting agendas are posted.
