Round 2 of FY 2024 Small Business Marketing Grant for Businesses with 25 of Fewer Employees Now Open

Applications are being accepted for Round 2 of our FY 2024 Small Business Marketing Grant Program, a program designed to aid in the promotion of for-profit, non-agriculture-based businesses with 25 or fewer employees and with a physical location in Garrett County. This is a reimbursement grant. Expenses must be incurred after application approval. Grant awardees from the initial round of funding (Round 1) are not eligible to apply in Round 2. MD Commerce Announces New Child Care Capital Support Revolving Loan Fund

The Child Care Capital Support Revolving Loan Fund is a financing resource operated by the Maryland Department of Commerce, with support from the Maryland State Department of Education, to provide no-interest loans for capital expenses to childcare providers who participate in the State Department of Education's Child Care Scholarship Program. Loan funds are intended for current projects and may not be used to refinance existing debt, working capital, or operations. Learn more.

Coal Bucket Restaurant Celebrates 10th Anniversary

The Garrett County Commissioners recently issued a commendation to the Coal Bucket Restaurant in Kitzmiller, recognizing and celebrating its 10th anniversary. The commendation was presented to Barbara McKinney on July 21, 2023. Maryland Senator Mike McKay also presented Ms. McKinney with a citation from the Maryland Senate. Those present during the ceremony included Kitzmiller Mayor Robert Reckart, Kitzmiller Town Councilman Mike Brady, and Ms. McKinney's son, Brian. Read more.
