Grand Opening Held for New Shop 'n Save Store in Mtn. Lake Park

On Thursday, April 10, 2025, the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce partnered with the Garrett County Department of Business Development to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Shop ‘n Save’s new store in Mountain Lake Park. A large crowd of attendees congratulated CEO Craig Phillips and his management team on the grand opening of the new store and thanked them for making such a considerable investment in the community. Located at 304 Weber Road, the new store is across Maryland Highway from the grocery store's original location. Read more.

Commissioners Present 75th Anniversary Proclamation to Garrett Regional Medical Center

At its public meeting on May 5, 2025, the Garrett County Commissioners presented a Milestone Proclamation to Mark Boucot, President and CEO of Garrett Regional Medical Center (GRMC), recognizing the hospital's 75th anniversary. GRMC first opened its doors on May 15, 1950, thanks to the generous bequest of George W. Loar. Originally named Garrett County Memorial Hospital, the facility began with35 beds and 45 employees. Over the decades, GRMC has grown into a vital healthcare institution now operating a 55-bed facility with over 500 dedicated employees, providing exceptional inpatient and outpatient services to the residents of Garrett County and the surrounding region. Grantsville Attainable Housing Project Still Accepting Applications

The Garrett County Development Corporation is continues to accept applications from interested homeowners for Garrett County’s first attainable housing project. The development, located in Grantsville, will be a mix of townhomes and single-family homes, and will offer 63 units available to purchase. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. A refundable deposit will be required when submitting an application. Townhome applications will require a $200 deposit, while single-family home applications will require a $500 deposit. Learn more.
