Request for Proposals #24-1029 - Design/Build Services Keysers Ridge Business Park Industrial Speculative Building - Due Date: October 29, 2024 - Time: 2:00 p.m. (Local Time)

 

Description: The Board of County Commissioners of Garrett County, Maryland will accept sealed proposals for a qualified design team for design/build services for the design and construction of a proposed 50,000 square foot industrial speculative building, including associated site infrastructure improvements, at the Keysers Ridge Business Park in Garrett County, Maryland. Download a copy of the RFP.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held September 25th to celebrate the grand opening of Reflection House, a Level 2 residential recovery program providing addiction counseling services and linkages to health and behavioral health services to women with substance use disorder in Western Maryland. Using a social enterprise model, residents receive training in life and relationship skills, job skills, and real-world coping skills to support their sustained recovery. Learn more.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held September 12th to celebrate the opening of Moonglade Integrative, LLC. Located in the Grantsville Shopping Plaza, the business specializes in family practice and has extensive experience with addiction treatment and its comorbidities of mental health conditions and infectious disease. Ribbon Cutting Held for New Germany Store

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held September 20th to celebrate the opening of the New Germany Store. Located at 6876 New Germany Road, Grantsville, the business is currently operating as a gas station/convenience store with a deli. The store also stocks locally-made jams and jellies and hopes to work with local small farms to increase its offering of healthy, high quality foods. Moving forward, Mr. Schrock also plans to add some additional fresh baked goods and add to the store's stock of camping- and fishing-related gear. Learn more.

Precision Rafting Expeditions, LLC Presented With 44th Anniversary Commendation

At its public meeting on September 17th, The Garrett County Commissioners presented a commendation to Roger Zbel and Warren Wik, recognizing Precision Rafting Expedition's 44th anniversary. Located in Friendsville, the business offers World Class expert-guided, whitewater rafting trips on the Upper Youghiogheny, Savage, Potomac, Cheat, Bear Creek, and Big Sandy Rivers. New Round of Business Boost Microgrant Funding Available

A new round of the Business Boost Microgrant Program opened September 23, 2024. Microgrants range from $20,000 to $50,000 to support small businesses who need capital for growth and/or expansion opportunities. Applicant businesses must be located within a Maryland Sustainable Community and are required to meet one or more of the priority impact attributes that contribute to Maryland’s economic growth, such as supporting minority and women-owned businesses, driving innovation or technology advancements, growing new industries, or leveraging existing regional strengths. Application deadline: October 14, 2024 at 5 PM.

SBA STEP Grant Funding Available to Maryland Exporters

Drought Assistance Available For Farmers

Farmers whose crops are experiencing drought conditions in central and western Maryland may be able to receive low-interest federal financial loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Farmers in affected areas (Allegany, Howard, Carroll, Frederick, Garrett, Montgomery and Washington counties) can apply for emergency loans to meet their recovery needs, including the replacement of livestock or equipment, reorganization of farming operations or refinancing certain debts. Federal Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) are available for Western Maryland small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations with economic losses due to drought that began on July 16, 2024. The declaration includes the primary county of Allegany and the adjacent counties of Garrett and Washington in Maryland; Bedford, Fulton, and Somerset in Pennsylvania; and Hampshire, Mineral, and Morgan in West Virginia. Board of Public Works Approves Purchase of Savage River Lodge

Maryland's Board of Public Works recently approved the purchase of a 42-acre lodge property surrounded by Savage River State Forest. The Department of Natural Resources anticipates taking ownership of the property and incorporating it as part of the New Germany State Park complex in late 2024 or early 2025. The sale price of the property falls between two independent appraisals that DNR solicited for the property. Read more.
