MACo Members Testify to Fully Restore Local Infrastructure Funding

County officials from across Maryland testified in support of SB 726 and HB 1187 this week, both in-person and virtually. These MACo initiative bills would restore full funding – through 30% of the existing taxes on motor fuel and vehicles – back to the local governments, who maintain most of the State’s road miles.   This funding was cut by 90% in recession-driven budget years, representing a cumulative loss of $4.5B for local roads and infrastructure since FY 2007. Now is the time to restore this funding to the historic share that served the State and locals well for decades.
