To Kill a Mockingbird
May 5-7, 11-13
Performances for “To Kill a Mockingbird” are fast approaching. Opening night is May 5th. The set is looking great and rehearsals are really going well. The show has a very strong cast with lots of the old Gard Like Mike Weatherford, Vensen Fields, Mark Anzalone, Larry Kiner, Xander Singleton, Bobbi Donaldson, Levi Sanders, Catina Sundval, Gilbert Santillan, Jennifer grimes, Jeramie Tipton, and Dan Washburn and a few exciting newer cast like Tiffany Harvey, Mathew Houston, Melody Keller,  Justin Crase. The Kids are great as well, Jersey Garrett, Teegin Hacker and Wyatt Wilson.  The run-throughs get better every day. We think this show will move everyone to laughter and tears.

We are pleased to announce that Loaves and Fishes and the YWCA are Producers for the show. We appreciate their support, and support their causes as well.

This show is about race relations as well as good and evil, right and wrong, and personal commitment. “There are strong situations as well as racial epithets and some of our cast had to step out of their comfort zone to help tell this story. We feel this is a crucial part of American History. It underlines the racial changes in the last 50 years, and we are excited to bring this important story to our stage.

Shakespeare in the Park— Titus Andronicus—June 23-25
Bring a picnic and a lawn chair to Government Springs Park June 23- 25 and get ready to experience Gaslight’s first-ever production of The Tragedy of Titus Andronicus, Shakespeare’s earliest and bloodiest tragedy.  Think Shakespeare meets Pulp Fiction, Fargo, and The Matrix in 90 minutes of political corruption, revenge, deception, plus an assortment of other evils.

Ancient (yet, not so ancient) Rome is in disarray—the Emperor has died. When the late Emperor’s sons, Saturninus (played by Alex Ewald) and Bassianus (Jared Hardy) vie for the title, the choice is left to Titus, Patriarch of the Andronici (portrayed by Ben Ezzell). Titus has recently returned victorious from Rome’s war against the Goths led by their powerful Queen Tamora (Mona Campbell). Titus, reunited in Rome with his sister Maria (Catina Sundvall) and daughter Lavinia (Kalina Collins), has lost 21 sons in the war, but he brings home important prisoners.   Before turning over his war captives to the new Emperor, Titus demands a living sacrifice to honor the sons killed in the war. He chooses Tamora’s eldest son Alarbus (Mark Anzalone), and so begins Tamora’s hatred for Titus and the rest of the Andronici. When Emperor Saturninus frees Titus’ war captives and selects Tamora as his own Empress, Tamora has power to inflict her revenge. She uses her sons (played by Mark Anzalone, Lane Gavitt, Johnathan Wallace) and her lover Aaron (Venson Fields) to manipulate, maim, and deceive; thus begins this saga of bloodshed, injury, and death.

Additional actors in this tragedy include Matthew Houston, Bailey Wilson, Jeramie Tipton, Jim Clark, Justin Crase, Mary Fischaber, and Amanda .Metcalf.

Stephanie Ritter serves as Assistant Director for the production; Heather Palmer is Stage Manager and Creator of Specialty Props.  Carmen Ball is designing Costumes and Set; Peter Fischaber is Stage Fight Choreographer, and Whitney Hall will be sound and light technician.

Director Mary McDonald promises, “Audiences will be immensely entertained by the intricate battle scene, as well as the deceitful plots revenge.”

As always, Gaslight’s Shakespeare in the Park is free to the public, thanks to our generous sponsors: Jon and Diane Ford, Security National Bank of Enid, and Exit Home Reality.  Mark your calendars and bring a picnic to Government Springs Park the final full weekend of June: June 23, 24 and 25.  Each performance begins at 8:00.
