The Charlie Awards History
The Charlie Awards were named in honor of Charles Norman Duff, a mainstay of Enid Community Theatre from its inception until his death in 1971.  From his first role as a gangster in Mrs. McThing to his last as Oscar in The Odd Couple, Charles Norman Duff was a stellar performer.   In addition, he supported Gaslight Theatre in all aspects—from selling tickets to doing custodial work.  The fact that he enjoyed all facets of the theatre was evident in his vast support and participation.

Two bags, two boxes. four plates of sardines, seven doors and…..GO! NOISES OFF, which critics have called the funniest play ever written will kick off Gaslight’s 50th anniversary season.  Christianne Chase directs Michael Frayn’s Tony-winning play-within-a-play about a second-rate troupe of actors staging a third-rate British farce. Guaranteed to make you laugh until you cry, NOISES OFF features a stellar cast of Gaslight veterans and relative newbies, giving audiences a sneak peek at what goes on behind the scenes. Assistant Directors are Kay Shaughnessy and Mitch Walters, who also collaborated on set design with Ken Kelsey. Performances are Sept. 9-11 and 15-17.

Mr. Puppet’s Television Clubhouse is the third Mr. Puppet show, all originally produced through the Gaslight Theatre. Written, directed, and featuring the talents of professional puppeteer Chandler Jackson, this show (a wacky cross between Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood and The Muppet Show), finds Enid’s favorite felt-covered citizen hosting a retro “television broadcast" live from within the Gaslight’s Turpin theatre! Filled to the brim with witty humor and goofy surprises, Mr. Puppet’s Television Clubhouse is an original comedy for audiences of all ages. (Yes. Even adults.)
A Message from Our President
It is my honor to serve as president again! And to usher in our 50th season is amazing. This theatre is not only a place for quality entertainment, it is a place to find your family, to escape reality, and to step outside the box. This past season we were able to present some amazing productions that brought new talent to our stage. Our 50th anniversary season will only increase in quality! It was 15 years ago when we opened our 35th season with Noises Off so it's only fitting to kick of the year of celebration with quite possibly the funniest show ever written! We will see other Gaslight revivals with A Christmas Carol, Always, Patsy Cline, To Kill a Mockingbird and finish our season with a revival of Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Our Halloween show will be sure to cause some chills with the Bad Seed as will our Shakespeare in the Park Titus Andronicus.  Our Gaslight Teens have become a mainstay in our season and this year they will present Everybody Loves Opal, that has been referred to as "a prank in three acts!" Gaslight Theatre has also begun to present an impressive slate of shows in the Dr Jerry Turpin Little Theatre. With puppetry, comedy, poetry, and music there is now live theatre monthly in Enid Oklahoma.  Join us to celebrate our 50th season at our first ever Gaslight Gala! It will be the hottest New Year's party in the county! So get your tickets early and we will see you at the theatre!
