This delightful children’s play is adapted from Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale Opening at Gaslight on March 4th, it is the tale of two tailors who promise an emperor a new suit of clothes that they say is invisible to those who are unfit for their position or incompetent.  When the Emperor parades before his subjects in his new clothes, no one dares to say that they don’t see any suit of clothes on him for fear they will be seen as incompetent or stupid.  Finally, the ruse is uncovered and as happens with most fairy tales, “everyone lives happily ever after”.  Gaslight has a great cast led by the clothing-obsessed Emperor played by Tim Johnson and the two fast-talking tailors played by Daniel Johnson and Brad Estabrook.  The pompous High Prime Minister is played by Curtis Crandall who encourages the Emperor in his spending.  The Grandmother of the Emperor, played by Mona Campbell, washes the Emperor’s clothes because after buying so many clothes, the Emperor has no money to hire a laundress.  Along with the common sense Grandmother, the Empress Fatima, played by Chelsea Davis and her fun-loving lady-in-waiting Lady B, played by Layne Estabrook, help uncover the truth and put the kingdom to rights.

The show is fast-paced, brightly colored and outrageously fun!   Tickets are priced at family budget prices - $5 for those 13 and above / $3 for Ages 2-12.  Emperor’s New Clothes is a great entertainment value for the entire family!  On Saturday, March 4th and Saturday March 11, shows are at 10am and 2pm;  On Sunday, March 5th and Sunday, March 12th, shows are at 2pm.  Tickets are available online at or call the box office 580-234-2307 or available at the door.  Director Carmen Ball and able Assistant Charlet Ringwald encourage you not to miss this inventive children’s comedy!
