Gate Access Device Roll Out

Hello Superstition Mountain Community,

We wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude for the active involvement of community members in recent Gate Access initiatives. Your participation is vital to facilitating our transition from the old access system to the new.

The Gate Access distribution event was a success thanks in large part to those of you who participated. Over three days, we distributed 600+ tags, significantly enhancing access for our community.

We understand many of you are anxious to get these devices installed - so are we!

That said, please be patient as there is no specific need to have them right this moment. We are scheduling the additional dates and times to distribute these devices as quickly and efficiently as possible, and average two minutes or less for device install. Walk-in requests average over 12 minutes per install due to wait times, the need to park, not having vehicle info handy, and more. As a result, we are not issuing tags on a walk-in basis.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate this distribution process together.

Gate Access Distribution Details

We’re excited to share the upcoming dates for distributing gate access tags! Mark your calendars for:

  • Wednesday, December 11
  • Wednesday, December 18
  • Tuesday, January 14 through Thursday, January 16

We know the holiday season can be busy with travel and festivities, so these days will utilize the drive-thru model to make it super convenient for everyone to pick up their tags without needing to make appointments. We will assess the distribution numbers after January 16 and add more dates if needed.

Stay tuned for a detailed email as we approach these dates! It’ll include everything you need to know about the pick-up process, including times and any other helpful details. We can’t wait to help you get your tags!

Reminders

To ensure smooth access through the gate, please follow these important reminders:

  • Do not accelerate toward the gate in the belief that it will automatically open. Instead, approach slowly and prepare to stop at the stop sign.

  • Wait for your vehicle's Gate Access Tag to be read before the barrier arm raises.

  • Approaching the gate should be slow and cautious, especially if a vendor or guest vehicle is in the visitor lane.

  • When the barrier arm raises, only one vehicle is permitted to enter. The system then lowers the arm and raises it again for the next valid Gate Access Tag.

FAQs

1) Q. How do the Gate Access tags hold up to weather, car washes, etc.?

A. These devices have been used extensively for years and are designed to withstand the elements. To ensure the tag adheres properly, you should wait at least one hour after installation before washing your vehicle or doing anything similar where the device may be compromised.

2) Q. Can I remove the tag from my old vehicle and place it on the new one I just purchased?

A. No, these are nontransferable single-use Gate Access tags that will not work once removed.

3) Q. Can I deactivate an RFID tag if I’m no longer using it?

A. Please notify the office staff to deactivate the Gate Access tag if you have a security event, sell your vehicle, or need it disabled for any other reason. Association Staff are the only ones authorized to deactivate the tags and will audit your account when you stop in for a new decal in the future.

4) Q. Is there an expiration date for RFID tags, and how will I know when to renew?

A. There is no expiration for Owners/Residents Gate Access Tags.
