Gateway Community Action Partnership operates one of the largest Head Start/Early Head Start programs in the region, offering a school readiness program for children ages 0-5 at
locations throughtout Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Salem and Mercer counties in New Jersey, as well as the Germantown-Lehigh section of Philadelphia. Our centers are staffed by caring and nurturing individuals who plan and implement an array of activities that contribute to the early education of our children. This newsletter highlights just some of many activities that have occured at our centers this spring. We also recognize the leadership of Bonnie Eggenburg, Gateway's Vice President of Head Start and Early Head Start, who was elected President of the New Jersey Head Start Association at its recent annual conference. Also, one of our staffers was featured in an article in The Press of Atlantic City. And there will be a topping ceremony for Gateway's Atlantic City Head Start center on June 1.

Bonnie Eggenburg, Gateway Community Action Partnership's Vice President of Head Start and Early Head Start, was elected as the new President of the New Jersey Head Start Association at its annual state conference in May.
"Bonnie's elevation to this position brings recognition not only to her but to our local Head Start

"Now the entire state will know what I have known for quite a while, that Ms. Eggenburg is a great asset and advocate for the children of New Jersey. We are all lucky to have someone like her at the forefront of this great organization."
Said Edward Bethea, Gateway's Senior Vice President and COO: "Gateway is very proud of all of Bonnie's accomplishments and leadership abilities and we are certainly pleased that our colleagues from around the state agree with this assessment. She is and will continue to be an outstanding advocate for the advancement of Early Childhood Initiatives, as well as her endless support of the children and families throughout the State of New Jersey. Topping Ceremony Planned For Atlantic City Head Start Center
|
Gateway Community Action Partnership will hold a beam topping ceremony at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 1 on its $22 million Head Start center at 1433 Bacharach Boulevard, Atlantic City.
The 43,787-square foot, three-story center is scheduled for completion in May 2017 and will provide quality early childhood education for approximately 300 children and employ 80 Head Start teachers, aides and support staff. The center replaces four Atlantic City centers severely damaged by Superstorm Sandy.
Gateway, Head Start, Atlantic City and Atlantic County officials will be on hand to sign the beam to top the building's infrastructure, which includes more than 400,000 pounds of steel and will support a roof system that can withstand winds of 165 miles per hour.
The building was designed by Alberto & Associates and P. Agnes is the General Contractor. Facility funding is provided by Superstorm Sandy relief funds as coordinated by the Office for Children & Families, Office of Head Start Region II.
