WELCOMING GATEWAY'S NEW CEO

We are proud to announce Amy Splittgerber as Gateway's new Chief Executive Officer.

With more than 30 years of mission-driven nonprofit leadership, Amy most recently served as Executive Director of Healthy Learners — where she tripled the organization's budget over five years and expanded healthcare access for thousands of children across South Carolina. Amy is known for her collaborative, people-centered approach and her ability to pair bold strategic vision with operational excellence. She believes in dreaming big and motivating teams to make those dreams real. Randy Redlinger assumes the role of Chief Operating Officer, providing the continuity and operational leadership our members depend on every day. We are grateful for Randy's steady stewardship and excited for this next chapter.

2ND ANNUAL COMMUNITY RESOURCE FAIR

On March 26, Gateway hosted its 2nd Annual Community Resource Fair at the Clubhouse, welcoming 22 nonprofits and community partners. Our members and their families connected to vital resources in an afternoon filled with warmth and possibility.

We are deeply grateful to every vendor, family member, and member who came out to make this event a true success. A special thank-you to our Healthy Living Partner, Prisma Health, for their generous donation in support of this event.

OUR MEMBERS AT WORK

Gateway's Transitional Employment Program (TEP) places adults in real, paid, part-time jobs with local Greenville employers - building work history, vocational confidence, and a proven pathway to independent employment.

Matt S. • Batteries Plus, Greenville

"This job has helped me provide for my son and has increased my confidence every single day."

Matt recently secured an independent position at Batteries Plus in Greenville. His education and work history made him a strong candidate for customer service, and he's thriving. Matt helps customers find the batteries they need for electronics, phones, and vehicles — and says his favorite part of the job is simply talking with people and helping them meet their needs.

Shannon • MetLife

"Having a job improved my confidence, my self-esteem, and taught me time management skills I'll use forever."

Shannon recently completed her first-ever Transitional Employment Placement, having worked six months in the mailroom at MetLife. She delivered mail and packages and kept office supplies stocked — and worked on several special projects along the way. Shannon says Gateway staff gave her the encouragement she needed to succeed.

Arthur • Swamp Rabbit Café & Grocery

"Having a job means stability, productivity, and having money to afford the things I need. It builds my character and helps me give love to others."

Arthur recently began his first TEP at Swamp Rabbit Café & Grocery. He loves the people and the environment. For Arthur, employment means stability, productivity, and purpose — and he appreciates Gateway staff being "wonderful, caring, and supportive" as he begins his employment adventures.

HEALTHY MINDS, STRONGER COMMUNITY

We are delighted to announce that Prisma Health is now Gateway's official Healthy Living Partner!

This partnership strengthens our mission to support adults living with serious and persistent mental illness. Prisma Health's expert providers will share timely mental health tips each month throughout 2026 — on topics such as coping with stress and anxiety. These practical resources will help raise awareness among our members, families, and the broader Greenville community.

This Month's Helpful Tip:

4 ways to Recognize When Stress is Impacting Your Mental Health

Licensed professional counselor Geoffrey Williams, LPC/S of PH Behavioral Outpatient Programs shares tips for identifying when stress, anxiety, or mood changes are negatively affecting daily life and how to manage them.

  1. Poor sleep.
Your overall sleep quality has decreased, and you sleep less because of difficulty falling or staying asleep.
  2. Appetite changes.

You aren’t as hungry as usual or you find yourself eating more than usual. What you eat may also change, as the body craves carbs during stressful times.
  3. Mood changes.
You experience prolonged, uncomfortable moods such as anxiety, sadness and irritability.
  4. Unhealthy relationships.
You are in relationships that you find emotionally draining, argumentative, or pose a risk to your safety.

DOTS, CRACKS & BAMS - WHAT A DAY!

In Mahjong, every hand tells a story.

And at Gateway's inaugural Mahjong Sonata, more than 70 players came together for a day of tiles, laughter, friendly competition, and community — and every one of them helped make a difference. From the first draw to the final MahJong call, the energy in the room was electric. Players of all skill levels filled the tables, and the spirit of fun and generosity filled the rest. We are so grateful to everyone who played, sponsored, and cheered us on.

Over 70 players came out for Gateway's first-ever Mahjong Sonata — a day of Dots, Cracks, and Bams for a beautiful cause.

"The tiles were dealt, the community showed up, and together we made something truly beautiful happen."

Proceeds benefit Gateway's mission to support adults living with serious mental illness right here in Greenville — and thanks to you, the impact will be felt every day at the Clubhouse.

Mahjong Sonata Returns in 2027!

We're already looking forward to bringing everyone back to the table. Mahjong Sonata 2027 — date to be announced. Be on the lookout to participate!

Looking for easy ways to support Gateway's members?

Here's what we need most right now:

  • Shop our Amazon Wish List: Everyday items our members truly need.
  • Purchase Gateway Notecards: Beautiful cards created by our members. Every purchase supports the Clubhouse community.
  • Donate Mattresses & Bedding: A good night's rest changes everything. If you have items to donate or would like to purchase new, please reach out — your generosity will be felt every single morning.
  • Volunteer: Hydroponic Gardening — We have members eager to grow fruits and vegetables for the Clubhouse and need a gardening group or individuals to offer support and direction.
  • Volunteer: Guest House Refresh — Our guest house hosts colleagues from around the world and needs a refresh in the living areas — dining room, den, kitchen, and foyer. Looking for someone who loves to decorate and design.
