Church Office Volunteers Needed

UUMC's SPR Committee is actively searching for a new Church Administrator. While the search continues, we are looking for volunteers to serve in the church office to assist with answering phones and being present to assist as needs arise. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. If you are able to help in this way, please contact Emma Burke at emmafburke@gmail.com

Family Ministries

We had a wonderful time at our Family Ministries field trip to Global Wildlife on Sunday, February 22. It was a fun afternoon of exploring the park and enjoying time together with other families. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a great event!

Sermon Series: Tell Me Something Good

Lent was originally a season for new converts to prepare for baptism by learning what was central to Christianity, and in this series we explore what was central to Jesus’ life and ministry: radical welcome, love for neighbor, care for the vulnerable and nourishment for the hungry. At the heart of Jesus’ teachings, we find liberation, love, mercy, and grace—good news meant for all, though not always comfortable. This Lent, we remember that the good news is truly good: joyful, nourishing, and alive in the world. We hope this series roots our hearts in God’s expansive goodness and inspires us to live as people who bring hope, love, and action into a world longing for what is good.

Social Justice Committee

The Social Justice Committee will meet Sunday, March 1, following the 11 a.m. service in the library. Everyone is welcome to attend! Please feel free to bring lunch if you would like.

A Walk and a Prayer

On Monday mornings during Lent, meet at University UMC in the front lot at 8:45 a.m. Walk together and share in prayer for 40 minutes. No registration is required. For questions, contact Rev. Mary Rachel at revmaryrachel@universitymethodist.org.

Sacred Verse: A Weekly Meditative Experience

When the demands of life seem to pull you in every direction but your own, there is a quiet space waiting—a time to breathe, to listen, and to simply be. These 40-minute moments during Lent are not more tasks to complete but gifts for your own spiritual well-being. Through simple guided reflections where scripture and poetry meet, themes of loss, hope, grace, and presence unfold like a conversation with your own soul, reminding you of the deeper currents beneath the surface of your busy life.

Rev. Katie McKay Simpson will lead these during Lent from 8-8:40 a.m. every Wednesday beginning February 25. The sessions will be on zoom. This is offered for church members, friends, and your coworkers in order to provide a space apart for reflection and renewal. Register on our website or Church Center app to receive the link and the weekly session outline. Any questions? Contact Rev. Katie at revkatie@universitymethodist.org.

The "LOVE"ly Picnic

University United Methodist Church will host the "LOVE"ly Picnic on March 8, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The event will include a barbecue dinner followed by a musical program featuring the Chapel Choir.

Tickets are $25 per person, and proceeds will support the Youth Mission Trip and Weekend of the Cross, a local mission opportunity in Zachary, Louisiana.

Registration is required by March 1, 2026, as seating is limited.

VBS Volunteers

Come volunteer on a Road Trip with God at UUMC’s 2026 Vacation Bible School! Volunteer roles include working with groups as they travel to stations and volunteering within stations in areas like science, crafts, storytelling, snack, and games. Anyone ages exiting 6th grade to adults can volunteer. Come be a part of meaningful spiritual formation of our kids!

On Saturday, March 21, University UMC Is hosting a Rise Against Hunger event during which volunteers will pack more than 10,000 meals that will be sent to countries around the globe. For those of you who have participated in RAH in the past, you know how much fun this event can be for the entire family!

The packing will take place from 10 a.m. to Noon. We will need four to five volunteers to come earlier from 9-10 a.m. to help with offloading supplies from the RAH truck.

All of the jobs are easy and the kids have a great time while learning about how important it is to help hungry families in impoverished countries.

To register for the event, please use the link below. Questions? Call Betty Backstrom at (225) 572-3348.
