Is Anybody There?  Does Anybody Care?
Katie Kinnison Preaching

We are still with Job this week, but our focus shifts from him to Yahweh – to the One absent for most of the book, to the One who will not answer the man in pain.
How do we find the Invisible God? How do we hear the voice of crushed silence? What does it take to find Love in the vastness that opens up beyond our ken?
Before God shows up in the whirlwind at the very end of this story, God remains mute, inactive, not there at all in any tangible way. Job, covered with sores, suffused with loss, sits atop an ash heap, center stage.
I know that place? Do you?  If you have been there, how have you survived?
The world is such a cold place for some: unyielding, barren, bereft of hope. Let us dare to sit with them for a time, to know that we can survive there, to tell the truth and find our hope.
Yours ever on the journey,

Spotlight on Youth:
Charlie Van Aman
My name is Charlie Van Aman. I am fourteen years old. I am a freshman at Upper Arlington High School. This year I played football and lacrosse for the Golden Bears. In my free time I like to golf, travel and fish. I have attended Covenant Presbyterian Church since I was born and I was baptized here. I am currently in the Confirmation class this year. My parents and grandparents also attend Covenant. Thank you for supporting the Covenant youth. We have so many wonderful opportunities to enjoy fun activities, help others and grow as individuals. We appreciate your support.

I like to travel, bake, do theatre shows with Columbus Children’s Theatre and do volunteer work. I went to Ghost Ranch this past summer and it was one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. I want to thank the church for such a wonderful experience.

2019 Per Capita is $35.75 Per Member
Each member of Covenant is also a member of the larger church, the Presbyterian Church USA. As such, it is part of our responsibility to support the work of the administrative bodies of the national church – the General Assembly, the Synod, and the Presbytery. We do this by making a per capita payment each January. The per capita for 2019 is $35.75 per member, for a total payment due of $21,093. This figure is based upon our church membership roll as of Dec. 31, 2017. We invite you to pay your share of the per capita so that this money does not need to come from this year’s budget. Your contribution will free up funds for other vital church programs that meet the spiritual needs of our congregation. Envelopes are on the welcome table.  Click here to securely give online.
