Between these three group shows there are 60 artists represented from across New England and the world. The works of all artists are uniquely different from one another, but these 60 artists exemplify that idea as their work truly runs the gamut from digital media to site-specific installations to photography and more.
Listings and advertisements for the January/February 2024 issue are due on Friday, December 15.

Stems - Paintings by Melinda Lane
At: Colo Colo Gallery,
December 1 to 31, 2023
Third floor
The Kilburn Mill
127 W. Rodney French Blvd.
New Bedford, MA 02744
Reception, Friday, December 8,
5 to 7 p.m.
Artist Melina Lane will have her debut exhibition at New Bedford's Colo Colo Gallery during the month of December.
Lane, a graduate of Wells College (BA) and Vermont College (MA), has focused on representational still life for many years.
Lane clearly sets her paintings in the studio, but her motifs are pulled from her home and garden. Collections of dishes, textiles, plant material, and fruit are combined to create images that explore her perception of the interplay between designs and nature.
Lane believes that nature is as styled by man as the textiles she uses in her work. People have spent thousands of years creating and curating the environment to suit their needs.
Lane concerns herself with the interplay of the objects she stages. As she works, relationships among the objects become apparent. Lane seeks to develop these moments of perception into yet another interaction with Nature.
Objects in her collection range from antique and vintage to contemporary. Lane believes these layers of time add to her process. The relationship between humanity and nature is a continuum that she sees reflected in the objects she uses and paints.
