Principal Meg’s Weekly Message
Dear Lab Middle School Families,
On Friday afterschool we welcomed back the Lab Middle School Class of 2024 for an alumni event. While Stepping Up wasn’t even six months ago, it felt like ages since they were last in our hallways – the way they greeted one another one would think it had been years. They were taller with a wise air about them (having been in high school for nearly three months). They were also still the boisterous, silly, LOUD, and loving class that filled our school. The event was meant to be in the school yard – the rain and blustery weather caught us by surprise after months of near perfect weather. Not to be deterred, we crowded into the cafeteria to catch-up and connect. Over 150 kids came – the largest the event has ever been. We also had many “local celebrities”, our teachers (many wearing their Class of 2024 t-shirts) and Manhattan Youth staff attend the event – having them there meant so much to our kids.
Even as I was leaving the building a half-an-hour later after the event ended our Labbies were still huddled in the wet, cold outside in the outer courtyard – hugging, laughing, and sharing stories with one another. The connection that they have is so special to see and made me feel grateful for the three years we shared with them. It also made me grateful for all the time we have with your children – knowing it goes so fast.
In this time of Thanksgiving. I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you - our Lab Middle School Families. I am in awe and truly thankful for all that you do to love and support your children and our school. Thank you for sharing your children with me - it is a gift to spend my days with all of them.
I hope that this Thanksgiving is filled with love, goodness, hope and so much to be thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Principal Meg

We are seeking donations of goods, services, and experiences for our auction. Whether it's a unique item, a special experience, or a gift certificate to your favorite local business, your contribution will help us raise funds to support our school’s programs and initiatives.
Examples of Donations:
- Gift certificates (restaurants, stores, services)

- Vacation packages or weekend getaways
- Art, handmade items, or collectibles
- Local experiences (private tours, classes, or events)
