Dear Youth and Families,
Over the past year, we have been dreaming, praying, and discerning together about the future of youth ministry at The Falls Church. We believe our youth deserve a ministry that is vibrant, creative, meaningful, and shaped by their voices.
We are incredibly excited about what is ahead. This year, The Falls Church and Dulin Methodist are coming together to create one shared youth group, bringing our young people into a larger community where they can build friendships, deepen their faith, and experience a youth ministry with even more energy, opportunities, and connection.
As part of this collaboration, we are searching for a full-time Youth Director who will serve this shared ministry. We are looking for someone who feels genuinely called to know our youth, advocate for them, create meaningful community, and walk alongside them as they explore their faith and discover who God is calling them to become.
Applications are coming in, and we are hopeful that the right person will be called to join us soon. But we know that we cannot discern who should lead our youth without listening to our youth. So, on Sunday, September 13, our Kickoff Sunday, we are inviting all of our youth to help shape the hiring process.
During Formation Hour, youth will talk about what they want and need in a Youth Director. What kind of person would make them excited to come to youth group? What qualities matter to them? What questions should we ask candidates during interviews? Who would be the right fit for the unique personality, gifts, and spirit of our youth community?
The conversation will be facilitated by older youth alongside adult leaders, but the voices we most want to hear are those of our young people. Their ideas, priorities, and questions will be compiled and incorporated directly into the interview process. We want them to know that their voices are not symbolic in this process. They matter.

We are building this next chapter of youth ministry with our young people, not simply for them. We hope every youth who can be there will come, speak up, dream big, and help us discern who will walk alongside them in the years ahead.
