AEI Examines the Roots of SEL in a New Brief
Jay P. Greene of the American Enterprise Institute urges SEL advocates to acknowledge SEL’s ties to previous movements such as character education. “ For many Americans, SEL’s roots are deeply enmeshed in moral and religious precepts, and those promoting these as secular skills would do well to recognize and respect that fact,” he writes.  Read more in his brief .

The Assessment Work Group has published a series of briefs that offer concise, accessible information to support schools, community organizations, and individual practitioners working to improve the social and emotional competencies of youth.
