The last month is been full of changes. We have a new Geary County Visitors Guide that is available from the CVB office. The guide was done completely in house. That sounds easy, but it's challenging.

The ads were sold and designed, stories were written, and photos taken and chosen. Check out our website at www.junctioncity.org and you will be able to download the guide and see what we created this year. The guide is also available at our office at 222 West 6th in Junction City.

The links on the pages of the on-line addition will take you to the locations written about in the guide.

The Geary County Convention and Visitors Bureau made a splash at the Omaha Boat, Sports, and Travel Show with more than approximately 25,000 in attendance we were able to engage with a folks that are looking for a great weekend or longer vacation. Families are always looking for fun kid friendly places to go.

Milford Lake is always a big talking point in Omaha, but so are our trails, Ft. Riley, history, and the welcoming people that live in Geary County.

The fourth Thursday of every month the Military Affairs Council Breakfast takes place and brings a great group of Military and local community leaders together. The MAC Breakfast has different speakers to help us all learn what is taking place and keeps attendees up-to date.

Phyllis Fitzgerald, Executive Director of the Society of the First Infantry Division is a huge supporter. Fitzgerald paints barn quilt blocks. The ticket sales go to Junction City High School graduating seniors that are military dependents.

The primary purpose of the grant program is to help provide funding to local organizations for special events and marketing that promotes Geary County as a tourism destination. The winners of the grants this year are:

• Milford Lake Spring Clash -- Catfish Chasers Tournament Series Elite
• American Legion District IV Annual Convention/Buy American Flags -- Earl C. Gormley American Legion Post 45
