The EMD GP38-2
New Paint Scheme Now Available
Constructed between 1972 and 1986, the GP38-2 was one of EMD’s most successful diesel-electric road switchers. Featuring many of the same hallmarks found on other EMD road switchers, the type was the successor to the standard GP38, featuring modernized electronics and an updated prime mover. The GP38-2 was a firm favorite of many railroads both large and small, thanks to its reliability and standardized design, which allowed for ease of maintenance. More than 1,700 units were delivered to railroads across North America, in addition to export examples, and most remain in freight service to this day. The Bachmann HO scale GP38-2 features all-wheel drive, fine-scale handrails, and prototypical details such as a separately-applied roof-mounted horn and coupler cut bars. The model arrives DCC-ready with E-Z Mate® knuckle couplers, operating headlights, and a factory-installed 8-pin socket for the decoder installation of your choice.

Amherst Show Report
Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth at the Railroad Hobby Show in West Springfield, MA. We had an excellent time, and truly appreciated meeting and engaging with all who attended. As always, we enjoyed seeing our models in action on the various detailed layouts on display throughout the complex. Our next show will be the Great Train Expo in Costa Mesa, CA on February 10th-11th. Check next week's newsletter for details!
Of course, no trip to a train show would be complete without sampling some of the railfan opportunities in the area. We were fortunate to find various interesting 1:1 scale pieces of equipment while on the road to Springfield and even saw some at the show too!
