The Board of Directors of the Conference of Defence Associations Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of General Tom Lawson (Ret'd) as the new Chair of the CDA Institute.
General Lawson brings a remarkable depth of experience to the role. As a General officer, he was appointed Deputy Commander of the RCAF, Deputy Commander of NORAD, and ultimately Canada’s 18th Chief of the Defence Staff.
As CDS, Lawson oversaw the completion of the Canadian mission in Afghanistan, the deployment of Canadian troops to Eastern Europe as part of NATO’s response following Russian aggression in Crimea, and Canada’s contribution to the coalition effort against the Islamic State.
He will be a tremendous asset to the CDA Institute as we continue our mission to advance informed debate on national security issues.
General Lawson has made significant contributions to national security discourse through insightful op-eds, engaging panel discussions, and media appearances.
