GAzette 2020
17 JANUARY
volume 2
Greetings!

General Assembly 2020's theme is "Go!" Go can mean a lot of things to different people in different contexts. But for our young leaders we want to make sure they are fully equipped in the core essentials of Youth for Christ as they "Go" serve God's kingdom in reaching every young person. Ensuring that our young leaders are equipped in the core values and operating principles of Youth for Christ (evangelism and discipleship, scripture, prayer, church, people, mobilization, and integrity) will give them the boldness to take the gospel to young people everywhere. It will also unite them as one (ONE YFC) in the essentials that Youth for Christ holds most important. As a unified body of young leaders, and with this firm foundation in the essentials of Youth for Christ, we hope to see them carry on the mission of Youth for Christ for the next generation.

The Young Leader Training Course
The training will consist of the following:
  • Pre GA - Bible reading and writing assignments related to the core values of Youth for Christ. Also, a prayer project will be completed the three months leading up to GA.
  • At GA - Attend all general sessions, young leader sessions and activities.
  • Post GA - Commit to a post GA project where they create and implement a ministry idea related to one of the core essentials of their choice. This can be done either individually or as a team with other YLs who attended GA from their nation.
Who qualifies as a Young Leader?
We are looking for young leaders who:
  • Are between the ages of 18-30
  • Are currently on staff or are volunteering with a Youth for Christ program
  • Have the potential to be key staff/volunteers in the future
  • Are able to attend GA in the Netherlands
  • Can commit to pre and post GA assignments
  • Will continue to work with Youth for Christ after GA and whose nation is committed to keeping them actively involved in Youth for Christ
  • Have the full endorsement of their National Director
  • Have a strong commitment to their relationship with God and seeing young people know Jesus
  • Have a good grasp of the English language. We are trying to get interpretation for talking from the stage, but almost all of the interaction with other young leaders throughout GA will be done in English.
Other Details
Young leaders will have to pay for their registration and travel costs. If they are unable to cover their costs there will be the opportunity to apply for financial aid (more information about cost and financial aid will be sent out soon).

Each nation sending young leaders must have someone on staff, or a volunteer, who oversees and supervises the young leaders as they go through all of the young leader process. This is a requirement for a nation to send young leaders.

  • If you have any questions about the young leader process you can email Brandon Johnson at [email protected].
