State Chamber Update
The 2020 Session of the 150 th General Assembly starts tomorrow in Dover. As House and Senate members return to work, they will be greeted with good news about the current standing of State finances. With strong numbers coming out of the December DEFAC meeting, I hope legislators will continue the fiscally constructive path we are on and, again, set aside reserves. My hope is that the General Assembly will invest in infrastructure repairs and upgrades and workforce development needs – all things that lead to long-term success for Delawareans and the businesses here in the First State.
This is a very busy week for economic news. On Tuesday, consumer price index numbers for December are made public, while on Wednesday, the December producer price index is released. On Thursday, the all-important December retail sales numbers are out, as well as November business inventory data. We wrap up the week on Friday with housing starts and building permits data for December, as well as industrial production numbers for last month.
