  • Tip of the Month: How to enter a MBS item claimed elsewhere in Topbar
Pen CS is working with Heart Research Institute cardiologist Professor Ben Freedman OAM, Dr Nicole Lowres and the research team at the University of Sydney Charles Perkins Centre to find a way to cost effectively and efficiently screen for AF in General Practices. BMJ published this research program on 13th Oct 2018.

The Challenge

Stroke costs the Australian healthcare system approximately $874 million, with AF accounting for almost one-third of all strokes. AF affects at least 240,000 Australians, with the risk of developing it increasing rapidly with age. It is estimated that between 1.4% and 1.6% of Australians over 65 years have undiagnosed AF, as it is often asymptomatic.

REFRAME Osteoporosis - Assessing a patient's Osteoporosis risk
The REFRAME Osteoporosis App allows Doctors to assess a patient’s osteoporosis risk with minimal time and effort.

Four out of five Australians that are treated for an osteoporotic fracture are not tested for osteoporosis, meaning appropriate treatment isn't provided.

The App notifies the Doctor when a patient has an indication of osteoporosis and gives a simple view of the patient’s risk factors.

REFRAME Osteoporosis is FREE to all General Practices.
