Happy Holidays and what a year it's been!
Thank you to all the healthcare providers who so valiantly delivered critical care to so many Australians this year.

Healthcare is a measure of success for any country and as Australians we can be proud that we are navigating this difficult time with a considered approach. Pen CS' goal is to support healthcare providers to focus on prevention, and to digitally enable the workforce, to deliver better patient outcomes and improve provider satisfaction. We do this by supporting data-driven improvement in general practices and Aboriginal medical services.

2020 was disruptive in many ways and we are proud of our shared achievement with you, to support the Department of Health’s PIP QI initiative, which is a first step in outcome-based care.

As a winner of the Australian Digital Health Agency’s Innovation Challenge for Disease Tracker: outbreak surveillance in primary care, we are continuing to push new boundaries and deliver real-time data analytics for population health management. This information is utilised at a local level to inform needs assessment by Primary Health Networks or Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and to support practices to better manage their patients.

This month, Pen CS is launching the new look CAT which brings a fresh design to our trusted clinical audit tool.

Pen CS also supports GP led research and celebrates a strong history of collaboration with research organisations and universities to implement studies in primary care. This year has been equally engaging with studies in areas such as Bowel Cancer screening, Dementia, Smoking Cessation, Cardiovascular Disease, Prescribing Education, Quality Improvement and Osteoporosis.

Pen CS wishes you well over the holidays and is looking forward to a vibrant, empowering 2021.

Here’s to a focus on prevention in healthcare!

Best wishes,
Edweana.

How to Increase Breast, Bowel and Cervical Cancer Screening in General Practices and Aboriginal Medical Services
COVID-19 has negatively impacted screening for breast, bowel and cervical cancer in general practices and Aboriginal medical services Australia-wide.

60% of patients reported they were more likely to screen when reminded by their GP.

Pen CS has developed The Stand Up to Cancer guide to assist practices to increase cancer screening participation using CAT4 by finding the right patients at the right time, before they fall through the gap.

Completion of activities outlined in this toolkit will contribute to Criterion C4.1 – Health Promotion and Preventive Care of the RACGP 5th edition Standards and PIP QI QIM 9.
