Pen CS has created a step-by-step guide for practices interested in cancer screening and using CAT Plus for cancer related reports and filters. This booklet provides general information on how to improve the data quality of your patient records to address free text entries and extensive 'How To' guides covering:

  • Cancer screening - what is your base line?
  • Identifying under screened/never screened patients
  • Combining recall for cancer screening with overdue health checks and/or care plans

The Cancer Toolkit also contains links to more in depth resources available for CAT Plus users in General Practice.

The Toolkit will be available in the new year and will be accessible from the General Practice Resources Portal.
Pen CS are holding Data Quality Improvement Workshops in January and February 2020.

These 2 hour workshops will focus on how to drive quality improvement in your practice.

The new online training module for PIP QI, developed in collaboration with AMA's doctorportalLearning.com.au.

The module demonstrates how to use CAT Plus for PIP QI, including:
  • '10 Improvement Measures' Report for General Practice, in CAT4
  • Topbar 'PIP QI App' for General Practice
  • Scheduled sharing of de-identified clinical data with your Primary Health Network (PHN)
  • Email alerts to notify the General Practice of the status of your data submission (success/failure) to your PHN
  • Patient 'Opt Out' (existing feature)

How to access the module in doctorportal Learning:
  • This module will be freely available to all doctorportal Learning users. You will need to log in (AMA Member single sign-on) or sign up (Non-AMA Member, including all healthcare professionals) to doctorportal Learning to access the learning, which is also free.
  • Non-AMA Members who choose to use the doctorportal Learning CPD Tracker pay a monthly subscription fee of $22/month following a 60 day free trial, but this is not required to engage in learning and to receive a 'Certificate of Completion' as evidence.

CAT Plus and PIP QI
Work with your CAT Plus tools in the context of PIP QI. View reports in CAT Plus showing the new improvement measures in a new module. QI examples will be shown as well as an overview of the ten improvement measures.

  • Be familiar with reports/queries relating to the ten improvement measures
  • Know how CAT Plus can assist and inform quality improvement activities

Data Quality
Use the CAT Plus tools to monitor and improve data quality in your practice. Reports and filters aligned with the accreditation guidelines will be demonstrated for CAT4 and Topbar apps assisting with data quality at the point of care will be shown.

  • Be familiar with the commonly used reports/tools to improve data quality
  • See how practice data is tracking against the accreditation guidelines
  • Be shown tools for MD/BP to clean up any free text entries in the patient history
  • Understand how Topbar can assist with good quality patient data

This webinar is focused on cancer screening and reporting using CAT Plus. A range of activities will be shown to assist general practice staff in efficient recall and general handling of cancer screening.

  • Know how to establish a baseline for their patient population in regards to colon, cervical and breast cancer screening
  • Be familiar with the limitation and underlying data requirements of the cancer screening reports in CAT4
  • Learn how to combine recall for cancer screening with other recall reasons such as overdue GPMP or similar MBS items
  • Know how to access more resources and details on cancer reporting in CAT Plus

COPD
This webinar will cover reports/filters and functionality in CAT Plus related to respiratory disease, in particular to COPD

  • Be familiar with the available filters relevant for reporting on patients with COPD

  • Understand the medication mapping for respiratory disease used in CAT4
