Our local community champions have joined forces with us in the #SaveLunch movement this March! Together, we're fighting senior hunger and isolation right here in Osceola. With the support of our amazing champions, we're making a real difference in the lives of our senior neighbors. Every meal delivered, every voice raised, and every donation made helps ensure that no senior goes hungry or feels alone. Let's come together as a community to make a lasting impact.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Give the gift of your time!

As we approach National Volunteer Week from April 21 to 27, 2024, we're gearing up to celebrate the incredible spirit of volunteerism that drives our organization. Last year, we were fortunate to have 1080 dedicated volunteers who collectively contributed an astounding 30,053 volunteer hours.

To all our volunteers, past and present, we extend our deepest gratitude for your unwavering commitment to making a difference in our community.

As we commemorate this special week, we also wish to highlight a pressing need within the Council on Aging Meals on Wheels program. Our team of volunteers currently provides home delivered meals to over 350 individuals throughout the week with at least 60 new requests every month!  We are currently seeking volunteer drivers for routes in Celebration, Kissimmee and St. Cloud. Your commitment can be a few hours one day per week or more, based upon your ability and desire to serve. Your support will directly impact the lives of those we serve, and together, we can continue to spread kindness and make a positive impact.

Should you be interested in learning more, please contact Jo Ann Henry at (407) 846-8532, x 1213 or henryj@osceola-coa.com.

6 Benefits That Could Help Older Adults Pay For Food

Survey data reveals a concerning reality: 78% of American adults, with Baby Boomers representing nearly half, live paycheck to paycheck. Rising grocery and transportation costs exacerbate financial strain, leading 55% of older adults to plan expense cuts. The end of pandemic-related food assistance worsens the situation, prompting initiatives like NCOA's Boost Your Budget® Week from April 15-19, 2024. Immediate relief can be found through budget adjustments, while federal and state benefits programs offer crucial support. For more information on available benefits programs, visit NCOA's website. Seeking assistance from local Benefits Enrollment Centers ensures access to available resources. By leveraging these opportunities, seniors can mitigate financial strain and ensure access to essential nutrition.
