Eldera

Each week, we'll be highlighting a program from our resource, Staying Connected While Staying Apart: Intergenerational Programs and the COVID-19 Pandemic. Next up is Eldera.

Eldera pairs children with older adults from around the world for virtual story times, help with schoolwork, or just a friendly chat. Once younger and older people have been paired, Eldera brings them together over Zoom. Eldera facilitates matches based on interests and availability before scheduling the first virtual session. Alma's Way
ALMA’S WAY centers on 6-year-old Alma Rivera, a proud, confident Puerto Rican girl who lives in the Bronx with her parents, Mami and Papi; her younger brother, Junior; her Abuelo; and their lovable little dog, Chacho. It's inspired by the childhood of Sonia Manzano, who played Maria on Sesame Street from 1971 to 2015. Alma models optimism and determination, showing that if she puts her mind to a problem, she can figure it out. Learn more.
