Generations United is excited to launch the Intergenerational Leadership Accelerator Program, a new fellowship designed for young leaders ages 18–30 who are creating, leading, or supporting intergenerational initiatives. As part of the inaugural class, fellows will gain essential leadership tools, mentorship, and networking opportunities to strengthen their impact and champion collaboration across generations in their communities, programs, and professional fields.

To accompany our recent webinar, “Improving Food Security in Kinship/Grandfamilies,” we have released two updated resources, both created by our subject matter experts at the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC). “Get Food Help: Federal Nutrition Programs and Emergency Food Referral Chart for Grandfamilies and Kinship Families” provides a look at the range of federal nutrition programs available to grandfamilies and kinship families with low incomes. “Federal Nutrition Programs for Grandfamilies and Kinship Families” is a three-page fact sheet that provides information to organizations on how federal nutrition programs can help grandfamilies and kinship families with low incomes access healthy meals, food, and resources to buy food. The programs highlighted in these resources do not require caregivers to have legal custody or guardianship, or be related to the child living with them, to receive help.

Michigan State University AgeAlive

AgeAlive, a newly designated Generations United Program of Merit, envisions a world in which there is respect and wellbeing throughout the lifespan, and quality of life for people of all ages and abilities. Established in 2017 in the Michigan State University (MSU) College of Osteopathic Medicine, this program has extensive campus and community outreach and intergenerational engagement. AgeAlive advocates for lifelong education for older adults, education for young adults about aging, intergenerational experiences, and has spearheaded MSU’s designation as an Age-Friendly University by the international Age-Friendly University Global Network in 2019. AgeAlive is dedicated to connecting generations in mutually beneficial scholarship, programs and initiatives that align under the broad theme of aging, including lifelong learning, respect, wellbeing, and quality of life for people of all ages and abilities across the lifespan.
