Explore Generations United’s Intergenerational Housing Blueprint!
Released last year, Generation United's Intergenerational Housing Blueprint, Healthier Lives Across Generations: A Blueprint for Intergenerational Living, focuses on intentional intergenerational living—communities open to people of all ages with a deliberate focus on fostering intergenerational interaction and relationships. The Blueprint is centered on the need for safe and sustainable housing that improves health and well-being among people with low or moderate incomes who have historically been left out of affordable and accessible living options. Access the blueprint.
To learn more about intergenerational housing, consider joining our Intergenerational Housing Learning Network (IHLN)! The IHLN brings people together to share knowledge about the various intergenerational housing options and to strategize ways to get intergenerational housing approaches integrated with senior housing, affordable housing, supportive housing, and other relevant efforts to meet America’s housing needs. The IHLN meets quarterly, with the possibility of activity between convenings. We engage people with knowledge of various intergenerational housing approaches to share and are interested in strategizing with others to make intergenerational housing a more common and accepted part of our way of life.

Intergenerational Spotlight | |
All Seasons Preschool
The mission at All Seasons Preschool is to provide a model early learning experience that meets children's developmental needs while fostering meaningful relationships with senior adults. All Seasons Preschool of Inver Glen and All Seasons Preschool of Eagan are intergenerational preschools housed inside two senior living buildings: Inver Glen Senior Living and Lexington Pointe Senior Living. Teachers lead intergenerational experiences every day, sometimes with an entire class and sometimes with a small group of children. All preschoolers participate in shared activities and roughly 25% of the seniors regularly participate with the children. Many more seniors participate for special events such as the Halloween fashion show, preschool graduation, or summer water wars. Learn more about All Seasons Preschool here.

"It's been really interesting to get to know someone of a different generation as a friend, but also as a mentor and flatmate. She’s a fascinating person. And being new to the area, it was really helpful to have an anchor point."
—Sarah Livschitz, 32, has been living with Laura Geller, 75, since 2023 while enrolled at the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion.
