An American Pickle
Herschel Greenbaum, and his spouse, Sarah Greenbaum, are struggling Jewish laborers. They emigrate to America in 1919 after their village is rampaged by Russian Cossacks. Herschel finds a job at a pickle factory, and is able to save up for two graves at a Jewish cemetery. One day, while working at his job, he falls into a vat of pickles and is brined for 100 years. Emerging in present-day Brooklyn (2019), he seeks out his only living relative, his great-grandson Ben. Learn more.

Culture United highlights films, books, music and TV shows with an intergenerational theme. Do you have any suggestions?  we'll share in the weeks and months to come. We welcome responses or reactions. We'll possibly feature them on our blog. See disclaimer.
New Report Urges HHS to Enhance Support for Grandparents and Other Relative Caregivers
Grandparents and other kin often step in to provide stability and security when parents cannot care for their children. Taking on this responsibility can lead to significant hardships, especially for older caregivers. The U.S. Government Accountability Office was asked to study the challenges faced by grandparents and other kin when becoming primary caregivers. Generations United helped provide background information to this report, which includes results from surveys in which some of our GRAND Voices Network Members participated. Learn more.
