Register Today for Generations United's 2017 State of Grandfamilies Report Release Event
Join us on   Wed., Sept. 13, at 5 p.m., in the Dirksen Senate Office Building (Room G-11) when we release Generations United's 2017 State of Grandfamilies Report and present the Grandfamilies Champion Award. This year's report will focus on the critical role of grandparents and other relatives in providing safe, nurturing and stable homes for children who have experienced trauma.   Register today!

NANASP and Generations United's New Placemat Campaign to Encourage Vaccinations
These placemats from Generations United and the National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs (NANASP) are just in time for Grandparents Day and ahead of flu season. You can use them at a senior center, with home-delivered meals or at the dinner table with a grandparent or grandchild. They are designed to get older adults and youth talking about the value of vaccines together. Download your printable placemat template, which includes discussion questions to get you started.

Policy Update
Representative Jim McGovern (D-MA) and Representative Peter King (R-NY) introduced the Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Act (H.R. 3105), a companion bill to the Senate bill (S. 1091) which was introduced by Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Bob Casey (D-PA) in May. The bill would create a federal task force on grandparents and other relatives raising children. Learn more and urge your members of Congress to cosponsor the bill.
September is Go4Life Month!  
Go4Life Month is a national campaign to raise the awareness about the health benefits of physical activity for all ages. If you're 50 and older, Do Something Grand this Grandparents Day by modeling good physical activity and healthy eating habits for your grandchildren, or a grand friend.  Learn more

Call for Papers - GrandFamilies Journal 
The editors of  GrandFamilies: The Contemporary Journal of Research, Practice and Policy invite authors to submit manuscripts that examine new or emerging practice methodologies, program evaluation and policy perspectives related to grandparent-headed families.  Learn more

A Little Help with Carol Burnett
This unscripted comedy, is coming soon to Netflix. The show will star Carol Burnett and a panel of straight-talking 4- to 8-year-olds as they demonstrate how different generations solve life's biggest dilemmas. In each half-hour episode, the kids will face real-life issues brought before them by both celebrities and everyday people and will dish back guidance in front of a live studio audience. Learn more

This meme of comedian and writer Jimmy Kimmel, who's best known as the host and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, is  part of  Valuing Vaccinations Across Generations , an awareness-raising campaign that promotes vaccines for all ages. In the United States, the campaign started in partnerships between Generations United, the Gerontological Society of America and the American Academy of Pediatrics with support from Pfizer.
