| | | Apply for our Exemplary Kinship Practice Designation | | |
Does your agency or organization have a practice that supports kinship families? Would you like your work to be recognized nationally as "Exemplary" and elevated and shared with others who can use it to help kinship families in their communities?
We're casting a wide net in our search for "practices." A practice may be kin-specific or more general and implemented in a way that helps kinship families. It might be anything from a form a school district provides to allow kin to enroll the children they are raising in school to an online, searchable database of services for kin. This opportunity complements our previous Exemplary Program initiative.

Juntos: Sharing Our Stories
El Buen Samaritano's Juntos: Sharing Our Stories program, a newly designated Generation United Program of Distinction, is a photovoice intergenerational program that takes place during our 8-week summer programming in June and July. The heart of the program is twofold: equipping middle school aged students with valuable interpersonal skills while providing older adults (55+) with a platform to combat loneliness through digital literacy and digital photography. Both groups participate in leadership development training, digital literacy, and digital photography courses enabling them to explore the world of photography through hands-on sessions. Through the lens of a camera, participants share a common language that transcends age. Learn more about Juntos: Sharing Our Stories here.

The certification is an annual recognition of outstanding programs bringing older and younger participants together and is based on rigorous standards of program effectiveness and sustainability.
