Jesus Christ Superstar Live
Jesus Christ Superstar Live is the Broadway play based on the 1970 rock opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. The 2018 musical -- which aired April 1 on NBC and is available for streaming on HULU -- is almost entirely sung-through, with a minimal amount of spoken dialogue. The play is loosely inspired by the Gospel's accounts of the last week of Jesus Christ's life, beginning with the preparation for the arrival of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem and ending with the crucifixion. The intergenerational cast -- which stars John Legend as Jesus Christ -- includes the 30-year-old Erik Grönwall as Simon Zealotes and 70-year-old Alice Cooper as King Herod. Learn more.

Culture United highlights films, books, music and TV shows with an intergenerational theme. Do you have any suggestions? Share them with us and we'll share in the weeks and months to come. We welcome responses or reactions. We'll possibly feature them on our blog. See disclaimer.

"It really boils down to this: that all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied into a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. We are made to live together because of the interrelated structure of reality." ~Martin Luther King, Jr. We remember him today on the 50th anniversary of his assassination. (See the meme.)
