A Day for Youth
Thanks to one of Generations United's UN representatives, Kristin Bodiford, for attending yesterday's UN event and live tweeting. We honored the day by showcasing Donna's Huffington Post piece from last year, "International Youth Day - It's as Easy as ABC." And today, we continue to celebrate by highlighting another guest blog post from Duncan McDonell, one of our youth jumpstart grantees. Some of you might remember him as the visual artist, who wrote about using art as a tool for intergenerational communication at the Institute on Aging. He talks about expanding that work in his piece, "Building an Intergenerational Community through Art." Read Duncan's piece.

Generations United on Boomer Generation Radio
In his segment on the Kendal Corporation-cosponsored Boomer Generation Radio, Rabbi Richard Address, founder and director of Jewish Sacred Aging, focused on the power of intergenerational programs and "a road map for aging." The second half of his program (which starts at 32 minutes and 40 seconds into the recording) includes an interview with Donna Butts. In response to the question - "What's released when generations are interconnected?" - she said: "People of all ages have so much to give. Older adults can contribute wisdom and stories...[that] helps young people have a sense of roots and of history...for young people, they feel like they have something to offer." Listen to the episode.
