Seeking Assistant Director, National Center on Grandfamilies - Apply by February 7th |
Generations United’s National Center on Grandfamilies is seeking an Assistant Director to join our results-oriented team. The Assistant Director is responsible for leading a cross-site Kinship Navigator Collaborative program and evaluation, grants and contracts for the Center, overseeing and managing grandfamilies’ engagement, creating and ensuring the quality of the Center’s publications and website content, conducting federal advocacy, and supervising staff and consultants working on relevant projects. The senior-level, Washington DC-based position will work with the organization’s management team to participate in fundraising and budgeting functions of the Center. Reporter Looking For Families |
A respected news outlet is doing a story about children who have lost a parent or caregiver to COVID-19 and the way grandparents have stepped in to either help or support the family or in some cases, raise the grandchildren. The reporter is looking to feature three grandparents’ stories and has a deadline for the story of Jan. 31. Phone interviews would take place over the next two weeks. NW Children's Foundation 2022 Forum - Buffering Intergenerational Trauma: Child Well-Being and Community-Based Resilience |
NW Children's Foundation is hosting their virtual forum Buffering Intergenerational Trauma: Child Well-Being and Community-Based Resilience on Feb.1 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM (PST). The event features 5 presenters who will cover topics ranging from the prevention of youth incarceration, reimagining the often misunderstood role of fatherhood, the “decolonization” of mindfulness, an indigenous and integrated health treatment model. Cool Ideas - Intergenerational Olympics |
The North Ridgeville Senior Center in Ridgeville, Ohio will be hosting an Intergenerational Olympics to celebrate the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing. Older adults will team up with local children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade for a wide range of games from Nerf Biathlon to Ice Cube Luge to Olympic Jeopardy. Learn more.

Get It Back - Earned Income Tax Credit Outreach Toolkit |
The American Rescue Plan recently expanded the eligibility requirements for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). More workers will benefit from this tax credit than ever before, including younger and older workers without kids who are eligible for the first time (though many do support children and other family members). As tax season gets under way, it’s critical that we spread the word about this expanded eligibility to as many workers as possible. Workers need to file their tax return by Apr. 18, 2022, to receive this money.
The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities launched the EITC Outreach Toolkit to help promote the message to eligible low-income families and single working adults who qualify for these important tax credits. The toolkit contains messaging and earned media materials, social media toolkit, call and text scripts and newsletter copy, and flyer and mailer. Learn more.

The Eisner Foundation's New York City Expansion. The Eisner Foundation is now accepting Letters of Inquiry from organizations in New York City’s five boroughs offering intergenerational solutions to society’s greatest challenges. Deadline: Jan. 23, 2022. Learn more.
National Endowment for the Arts. The Big Read supports the development of community-wide reading programs which encourage reading and participation by diverse audiences. These programs include activities such as author readings, book discussions, art exhibits, lectures, film series, music or dance events, theatrical performances, panel discussions, and other events and activities related to a specific book chosen by the community. Deadline: Jan. 26, 2022. Learn more.
Aim High grant program is funded by the New York Life Foundation and administered by the Afterschool Alliance, and supports out-of-school programs serving middle school youth nationwide. Funded programs must serve a high percentage, at least 75 percent, of low-income youth. Twenty one-year grants of $15,000 will focus on supporting programs in their racial equity and social justice efforts. Twenty two-year grants ($50,000 or $100,000) will focus on supporting programs in enhancing direct services, technical assistance, capacity building, and their efforts to continue to serve youth as the pandemic continues to change and impact families in different ways. American Rescue Plan Funding Opportunities. AmeriCorps Seniors' focus with this opportunity are applicants who can demonstrate how they will engage adults age 55 and over in impactful national service to address one or more of the identified priorities. AmeriCorps Seniors prioritizes serving communities that are hard-to-reach and/or those that have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. Deadline: Feb. 3, 2022. Learn more.
NEA Funding Guidelines Posted. Guidelines and application materials for Grants for Arts Projects (GAP) and Challenge America funding are now available on the National Endowment for the Arts’ website. The National Endowment for the Arts supports projects in any part of the nation’s 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. jurisdictions. Through their programs, they encourage activities that rebuild the creative economy and educate the next generation, unite and heal the nation through the arts, and serve the nation’s arts field.

A new resource, Kinship Caregiving Options: Considerations for Caregivers, has been developed in partnership with the ABA Center on Children and the Law, Children’s Defense Fund, and Generations United, with support from Casey Family Programs. The publication provides a broad, national overview of choices that may be available to caregivers, along with related considerations, to help caregivers make more informed decisions about pathways to pursue.
