Youth Activist Genesis Butler Joins Board Of Leading Legislative Animal Advocacy Group,
Social Compassion in Legislation

Young Marvel Hero will use her voice and influence to advance animal protection laws

January 27, 2021 – Sacramento, CA – Social Compassion in Legislation (“SCIL”), a leading political animal advocacy group creating and changing laws to support animal rights, protection, and welfare, announced today that Genesis Butler, an animal activist and influencer, has joined their board of directors. As a board member, Butler will advocate for legislative change through meetings with elected officials, speaking at committee hearings, and utilizing her social media channels.

At the young age of 14, Butler has received a slew of accolades, including PETA’s Young Animal Activist of the Year, Animal Hero Kids-Sir Paul McCartney Young Veg Advocate, and the Lisa Shapiro Youth Activist awards. Also known as the “Amazing Animal Ally”, she has been featured on Disney's ‘Marvel Hero Project’ honoring her work helping to save animals. She is the founder of the nonprofit organization, Genesis For Animals, which raises funds for animal sanctuaries around the world. Butler is an incredibly motivating speaker and gave a TEDx Talk at 10 years old and continues to be an advocate for the voiceless.

Butler made the connection between her food and where it comes from at the age of three, and that painful realization has led her to not only become vegan, but also to become an activist to promote change. “At a very young age, I realized that each animal was a unique individual and that I wanted to do everything I could to help them,” said Butler. “I’m excited to motivate my fan base to help further Social Compassion in Legislation’s mission, which is at the core the same as mine: to save every animal.”

Butler joins SCIL’s existing board members, which include Diane Keaton, Maggie Q, and Louise Linton. Together, they will utilize their public platforms to raise awareness and educate the public about legislation and regulations that impact animals.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Genesis to our board. We know her passion and influential voice will help continue to fulfill Social Compassion in Legislation’s mission in legislating protection for all animals. We’ve worked together since she was a young girl on various campaigns and are thrilled to be expanding her role with our organization,” said Judie Mancuso, founder and CEO of Social Compassion in Legislation. “Our youth is our future, and Genesis is a powerful role model who can help make that future a more compassionate one.”
