Genesis News and Notes
August 5, 2021
Dear Friends,

The new school year is right around the corner! It seems like we just made it (barely) through last school year and here we go again. Whether you are a student, family member, staff person, or a thoughtful neighbor and community member, you know this year will bring heightened anxiety and logistics like last year. It is definitely the time to be using words of blessing, showing acts of kindness, and extending LOTS of grace to one another! There may be a small moment or big opportunity for you to be the one who steps up and does the right thing.

Of course, this is what happened to Queen Esther. We will continue her story on Sunday and talk about how God puts us in position and opens doors for us to do the right thing on behalf of one another. As the scripture says, she was made queen "for such a time as this" that she could save her people. Her story is short, just 10 chapters in the book of Esther. I encourage you to read it before Sunday.

This Sunday in worship will also be our Back to School Blessing for school staff, students of all ages, and their families. We have a small goodie bag for each student and staff member. Please don't bring your backpacks, we want to bless you!

As you can read below, we are encouraging everyone to wear masks in worship- whether you're vaccinated and unvaccinated- especially because we hope to see our kids and grandkids in worship on Sunday!

Until then..

Grace & Peace,
Pastors Amber & Paul
Health & Safety Reminders

As COVID-19 positivity rates In Tarrant County return to substantially high levels, we want to remind you of our health & safety measures at Genesis. We strongly encourage you to wear a mask in the building and during worship- both vaccinated and unvaccinated persons. We continue to have plenty of space for social distancing, including our side sections which are marked.

If you are not fully vaccinated for whatever reason, including children under the age of 12, we urge you to wear a mask in the building. We also encourage you to consider getting the vaccine, if you are eligible.

Unfortunately, most of the current cases are among unvaccinated persons. However, the CDC does caution that even vaccinated people can be carriers of variants of the coronavirus. Therefore, if you have been exposed to anyone with confirmed COVID-19 or the variants, we urge you to get tested and follow the CDC guidelines for isolation. If you feel sick, please join us online for worship. We will continue to monitor the situation and make updates as needed.

Important Info- Sunday Livestream

Please note: our Sunday worship livestream will be hosted on YouTube only. We will post a link on Facebook to the YouTube livestream. When you click it, the link will take you to YouTube.

Like Facebook, you can interact with us on YouTube. Leave a comment and let us know that you're online! Click the "thumb's up" icon for some positive ratings! You can also watch replays and comment on the replay. Please "subscribe" to our Channel: GenesisUnitedMethodistChurchFortWorth. There is no cost to subscribe; it's like following us on Facebook.

There's a good reason for these changes! The new camera equipment that we purchased has been installed and amazing volunteers have stepped up to operate the camera and sound. Praise God! The audio and visual quality will be better, but alas, Facebook does not support this new HD equipment. So, we are switching our livestream to YouTube. Thank you for your patience and support during this transition.

Music Moments
This Sunday we will celebrate going back to school with a special blessing. Many other activities will start gearing up this fall and more people will decide to come together after a difficult period of isolation. It is certainly a time of excitement and hope, and if we are honest, a little uncertainty also. Our service music this Sunday will celebrate the hope and confidence that we can have in a God who prepares us, sustains us, knows our futures, and holds everything in His hands!

Aidan will sing this Sunday before he leaves for college, and the words he will share are perfect to remember in times like these!
“Every anxious thought that steals my breath, it’s a heavy weight upon my chest.
As I lie awake and wonder what the future will hold, help me to remember that You’re in control.
I will lift my eyes, I will lift my cares. lay them in Your hands, I’ll leave them there.
When the wind and waves are coming, you shelter me. Even though I’m in the storm, the storm is not in me.”
See you Sunday!

Nursery is Open for Worship!

As we welcome families back to in-person worship, we are excited to resume the Nursery for children ages 0-5 during the 10:30am worship service.
Ms. Joanne Chandler, one of our Weekday Christian Preschool teachers, and Ms. Sheerie Sobota are returning to care for your little ones in the Nursery.
Most procedures for the Nursery will continue as they were before the pandemic. Here’s what parents and caregivers need to know:

  • The Nursery room is located in the Preschool wing, classroom #7. Use the main Preschool doors across from the Chapel.
  • Access doors will remained locked for children’s protection. Ring doorbell for access to the preschool wing and the Nursery.
  • The Nursery will be open starting 10:15am.
  • The same adult must drop off and pick up the child.
  • No food or drink will be served, but individual beverage bottles are recommended.
  • As per our church guidelines, masks are encouraged for those who are not vaccinated yet including children over the age of 2 years.
We welcome children over the age of 5 in the worship service. More Sunday children’s programs will be considered in coming weeks. If you have any further questions, please contact Pastor Amber (

Phone Problems

The church office is experiencing technical difficulties with the phone system. If you have tried calling the office after hours you have experienced this issue. Please be patient with us as we work through this problem. If you call the church office during the day, and don't get through, please try again. Currently, the voice mail system isn't working, nor is the rollover feature which allows us to receive more than one phone call at a time. We are working with our phone company and will update you on our progress. In the meantime, we kindly ask for your patience.

Generosity Notes
Memorial Fund

The Memorial Fund allows you to remember or honor a person or event by providing funds for a current ministry of the church. To offer a memorial or honor gift, you may contact the church, mark a gift accordingly or go to our website,
Genesis offers electronic giving, which allows you to make donations on a scheduled, automatic basis. To set up electronic contributions, (checking or savings account or credit or debit card) you can come by the church office and complete an authorization form or go to the church website and give online.

Another great way to give is with a quick text message! Simply send a text to 817-697-2824 with the amount you would like to contribute. Make sure to include the dollar sign before the amount. Within a few minutes, you’ll be sent a text with a link to register. Once your registration is complete you will receive a text verification and a receipt via email.

It is important to know that we can depend on financial support from our congregation members to continue the missions that Genesis provides to so many, as we go through the summer, fall and upcoming holidays.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Troy Chapman at 817-292-4551 or email him at

Thank you for supporting Genesis!
