Word from the Co-Pastors

We are now in November, and signs of the coming holidays are all around us - changing weather, leaves falling off the trees, making plans with family and loved ones, decorations in the stores and advertisements on TV, the calendar is filling up, and much more. November is also a time in the life of our church when we have a number of special services and opportunities to serve and give. Over the next few weeks, we will remember our loved ones with our All Saints observance (Nov 7), honor our veterans (Nov 14), and focus on our giving and stewardship (Nov 14 & 21) before celebrating Thanksgiving and then starting our Advent season. Along the way, we will be collecting items for community ministry partners and providing a number of special ways for us to gather as a church community. We really hope you make plans to be with us - in worship, in serving, in giving, and in gathering together [as you feel comfortable doing so, of course].

We also want to remind you that while we often refer to the holidays as "the most wonderful time of the year," it is also a time that can be difficult for many of us. The holidays often remind us of people we have lost. This time of year can be challenging for those going through financial difficulty, depression and other mental health struggles, and those who feel isolated or alone. Yes, this time of year can be filled with joy and thanksgiving....and yes, this time of year can be sad and filled with grief. Let's be mindful of this. Check on one another and on your neighbors. Yes, let's gather to celebrate....and let's also create space for other feelings too. As we are reminded in Romans 12:15, let us rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. To care for each other, we seek to do both!

Look forward to seeing you Sunday and in the weeks to come!

Sharing Thanksgiving Meals with Our Neighbors!
Thanksgiving is about a month away, and there are 2 ways for you to help your neighbors have a full table.

1) Monetary donations for the United Community Centers, Inc.
2) Thanksgiving Sacks of food for Crowley House of Hope and Neighborhood Needs. Sacks with grocery lists are available and ready for pick up. Completed sacks are needed back to the church by November 7th in order to get them to the ministries on time for their distribution.

Cash or check donations are welcome for either ministry. Just mark your check or make your selection online at our church website for the ministry you choose to support.

Thanks to our Weekday Christian Preschool families for joining in this Thanksgiving Project too. Anyone is welcome to participate!
...To Meet

Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 13 at 8:00am. We will have a devotional and light breakfast in the dining room, and then those who wish can stay and help on the workday. One of the activities we will be doing is setting up Christmas trees in preparation for Hanging of the Greens. We hope to have a lot of help to make our church ready for the upcoming advent season.
Bring your gloves, gardening tools, shovels & rakes and plan to help beautify our church grounds. There are several areas in our flower beds that need attention. Some of our shrubs died during "Snowmaggedon" and these need to be pulled out. Thanks for coming for part or all of the day.

The more the merrier!
Veterans Day Celebration

We invite you to attend our Veterans' Day celebration on Sunday, November 14th. We will be honoring our veterans during the 10:30 worship service in our sanctuary. We hope to see you there.
Modern Worship Night
Sunday, November 14th @5pm

All are welcome this special night of worship in the Great Hall (a.k.a. gym). Our guest worship leader will be Jackson Christenberry from White's Chapel UMC in Southlake. Some of our own Genesis musicians will be joining Jackson for the worship music. Notice - the new start time at 5pm.

If you love modern worship music, you don't want to miss this! If you want to see what's unfolding here at Genesis, you'll want to check this out!

Angel Adoptions
Coming Soon!

Can you believe it's that time of year again? Yes, it's time for our angel adoptions and we would love your participation. We have decided that we will conduct our adoptions like we did last year during Covid.

Check out the procedure and options for adoptions.

  • Choose an angel from the Christmas tree located in the atrium we will have available during in-person worship. We will also be offering drive by opportunities as well.

  • Shop for your angel (online or in-person) and wrap the gifts and return them on Sunday morning or during our drive-by opportunities.

  • If you cannot do online or in-person shopping and still want help...please donate $40 to Genesis and we will shop for your angel.

Adoptions dates are: Nov. 28th, Dec. 5th and returns by Dec. 12th.

We will be assembling teams of individuals who would like to shop for these children, and another team to join us for a wrap party. You decide how you want to participate! More details to follow soon. Contact Linda Walker in the church office or if you would like to participate in the shopping or wrapping duties. We look forward to hearing from you!

Pastor's Bible Study on
Mental Health Thursdays @ 1pm

Pastor Paul continues his weekly Bible study on Zoom. The topic is "The Bible and Mental Health," and we will talk about how the Bible and our faith practices inform how we think about concerns like self-care and stress; grief and loss; depression and anxiety; addiction and generational dysfunction in families; and other mental health issues and concerns. To receive a Zoom link for the study, please contact Pastor Paul at

After further consideration, this study will only be meeting one time during the week on Thursdays @ 1pm. However, if you are unable to participate at that time and would like to watch a recording of the Bible study, let Pastor Paul know and that may be possible.

Health & Safety Reminders

As COVID-19 positivity rates In Tarrant County return to substantially high levels, we want to remind you of our health & safety measures at Genesis. We strongly encourage you to wear a mask in the building and during worship- both vaccinated and unvaccinated persons. We continue to have plenty of space for social distancing, including our side sections which are marked.
Phone Problems

The church office is experiencing technical difficulties with the phone system. If you have tried calling the office after hours you have experienced this issue. Please be patient with us as we work through this problem. If you call the church office during the day, and don't get through, please try again. Currently, the voice mail system isn't working, nor is the rollover feature which allows us to receive more than one phone call at a time. We are working with our phone company and will update you on our progress. In the meantime, we kindly ask for your patience.

Generosity Notes
Memorial Fund

The Memorial Fund allows you to remember or honor a person or event by providing funds for a current ministry of the church. To offer a memorial or honor gift, you may contact the church, mark a gift accordingly or go to our website,
Genesis offers electronic giving, which allows you to make donations on a scheduled, automatic basis. To set up electronic contributions, (checking or savings account or credit or debit card) you can come by the church office and complete an authorization form or go to the church website and give online.

Another great way to give is with a quick text message! Simply send a text to 817-697-2824 with the amount you would like to contribute. Make sure to include the dollar sign before the amount. Within a few minutes, you’ll be sent a text with a link to register. Once your registration is complete you will receive a text verification and a receipt via email.

It is important to know that we can depend on financial support from our congregation members to continue the missions that Genesis provides to so many, as we go through the summer, fall and upcoming holidays.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Troy Chapman at 817-292-4551 or email him at

Thank you for supporting Genesis!
