Convenor - Busselton Dunsborough Environment Centre
BDEC is seeking a new Convenor from the end of July as the current Convenor will be retiring. If you have an interest in wildlife, recycling, climate change management, marine and coastal issues, renewable energy, wildflowers, forests or some other environmental area this could be for you.
The role is voluntary as BDEC is an incorporated, not for profit community organisation run by a volunteer committee and operating from an office in the Busselton Community Resource Centre. The overall aim of the organisation is to promote awareness and encourage community involvement in the care, protection and appreciation of the natural environment of the SW region.
Primarily the role is an administrative one, organising meetings and managing the day to day business of the Centre in association with the Secretary. A science background and some local experience in an environmental field would be advantageous but is not essential. A keen interest in the environment generally would be helpful.
BDEC is engaged in on- ground revegetation works on an annual basis; hosts public seminars from time to time and provides advocacy through submission writing on various development proposals. The Convenor is generally involved in facilitating these activities. BDEC is also the auspice body for the Busselton Dunsborough Volunteers, which is funded by the Department for Communities and is co-located in the CRC.
Please call BDEC on 9754 2049 or Alison Cassanet on 0428 211 898 for more information.
