The North Lafourche Levee District continues to successfully leverage local tax dollars to secure state funding for our local levee and drainage projects.

As a result of these efforts, two NLLD projects are currently on the list to receive state funding through the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) of 2006, which is a portion of federal revenues from offshore oil and gas activity that is shared with Gulf Coast producing states like Louisiana.

The projects include the  Bayou Blue – Hollywood Backwater Flood Protection Project  with approximately $1.5 million of state funds and the  TLBB Element 2, Lockport to Mathews Levee Improvement Project with approximately $5.5 million of state funds. The state funding is administered through the LA Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority.
