Sympathy

Roberta Marshall, Westmoreland member, died peacefully on January 26 in Martinsville, Virginia where she has lived since 1997. Roberta had been an active and contributing member of Westmoreland for 49 years (1948-1997). Our prayers of sympathy are extended to her children and grandchildren.

George Singleton Retirement Gift

Dear Westmorelanders:

For 43 years George Singleton has graced our lives with his music. In worship services and in concerts, at funerals and weddings, for serious moments and for joyful times, George has shared his talents with us.  Now he is retiring.  Sunday, February 7 will be his last Sunday to sing in the choir as our bass soloist/section leader.

We want to honor George with a retirement "purse" - a financial gift to reflect our love and appreciation.

You are invited to give to that collection. You may donate online to George's gift by clicking here. You may mail your gifts to the church. Or you may place your gifts in the offering plate. Please indicate on your check that your gift is for "George Singleton Retirement Gift."

Thank you in advance for your gifts to George as a way to thank him for his gifts to all of us. You will want to be here this Sunday, February 7, as we enjoy George's music and honor him in our service.

Sincerely,

Peggy Alfonso
Moderator

Capital Campaign and Building Renovation Plan Approved

In unanimous votes, the people of Westmoreland Church voted yesterday to enter into a fundraising campaign and a building renovation plan.

Thank you to the Building 2020 Committee members for their work in bringing us to this point. And thank you to everyone who took part in yesterday's meeting. Your ideas and prayerful enthusiasm are appreciated.

The Building 2020 Committee, the Governance Council and others will work to implement suggestions offered yesterday: Exploring the possibility of including a social justice aspect to the fundraising, convening a November congregation-wide meeting to review next steps, and creating an email "suggestion box."

Thank you again.

David Bennett
Building 2020 Chairperson

Office Update

Our office administrator Mimi Miller is out of the office as she recuperates from health concerns. Please keep Mimi and her family in your thoughts and prayers. And please be patient with our church staff and volunteers this week.
