Georgetown Gateway Project November 2022 Update

Since our last update in July, we’ve made a lot of progress on utility infrastructure and shoulder improvements in the Phase 1 corridor, which runs along Chamblee Dunwoody Road from N. Shallowford Road to Chateau Drive.

In the coming weeks and months, you'll begin seeing work pick up in the Phase 2 corridor, which continues along Chamblee Dunwoody Road from Chateau Drive to Cotillion Drive at I-285.

Recent Milestones

Utility infrastructure:

  • Georgia Power pulled the old poles from the Phase I corridor.
  • Electricians installed conduit and 25 pole bases for street lights in the corridor between Kent Avenue and N. Shallowford Road. They also installed the new signal pole foundations and new poles at the Dunwoody Park and Kroger Shopping Center intersections.
  • Crews installed nearly 900 feet of underground storm pipe and 12 storm drains in the Phase I corridor.
  • The water main subcontractor has been preparing to grout the abandoned water main that runs under Chamblee Dunwoody Road.

Shoulder improvements:

  • Concrete crews have prepped, placed, and finished 733 linear feet of concrete curb, one residential driveway apron, and more than 1,100 linear feet of new trail and sidewalk in the Phase I corridor.
  • Crews completed connections between the new curb and storm drain system.

Coming soon

Here's what's next for the Georgetown Gateway Project:

  • Continue with overhead utility relocation in the Phase II corridor.
  • Install landscaping, trees, and sod in the Phase I corridor.
  • Water main subcontractor will complete scope of work (including punch list items and the abandonment of the old water main).
  • Complete sidewalk, trail, stormwater infrastructure, and driveway tie-ins in the Phase I corridor.
  • Resume installation of the storm drain system in the Phase II corridor.
