Dr. Greg Brooking
Greg Brooking, a native of Macon, Georgia, is the award-winning author of From Empire to Revolution: Sir James Wright and the Price of Loyalty and holds a BA, MA, and PhD in history. His current project, Henry Laurens: A Southern Founder, continues his focus on the American Revolution. Widely published in leading journals including GHQ, the Journal of Southern History, and the William and Mary Quarterly, he has delivered talks at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, the Society of the Cincinnati, and the Georgia Archives, and presented papers at major historical associations.
Recipient of more than two dozen fellowships and grants, Brooking is also a devoted husband, father of five, and grandfather.

From Empire to Revolution is the first biography devoted to an in-depth examination of the life and conflicted career of Sir James Wright (1716–1785). Greg Brooking uses Wright’s life as a means to better understand the complex struggle for power in both colonial Georgia and the larger British Empire.
