Georgia Connection - June 2020
"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:12

We are grateful for Pastor Nicole Husband (Georgia Nazarene Black Ministries Coordinator) and all of our Pastors and leaders. Please take a moment to read her powerful perspective and prayers. - Pastor Kyle

Pastor Nicole Husband,
Georgia Nazarene Black Ministries Coordinator

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

The heart of the black community is weighted with the realities that we are facing right now. Amid a pandemic that is disproportionately affecting the black community, there remains the ever-present reality of the systemic issues of racism in this country. We are all grieving the unjust death of another black man. We mourn with families that have to bury a loved one as a result of the disregard for the sanctity of human life. We are heartbroken over the display of frustration taking place in cities across the country.

We are tired; nonetheless, carrying the DNA of those who survived the Middle Passage, we stand ready to march on towards justice and equity till victory is won. We stand in the knowledge that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal; they are mighty unto God for the pulling down of strongholds. We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Christ, praying for peace, unity, and an ear to hear what God is saying to the Church in this hour. Most importantly, we stand in faith with courageous confidence that our Savior has overcome the world.

Lord, we thank you for being the Prince of Peace. In the midst of our circumstances, gird our feet with your shoes of perfect peace, so that we can run the race that you have called us to with power and confidence. Lord, lead us to love others as you first loved us. May your love bind us together in perfect peace and unity. May we stand firm and raise up Your flag of victory for Christ has overcome the world.
In Jesus name, Amen.

Many Blessings,
Pastor Nicole
The COVID-19 pandemic and its impact made it unsafe to gather for District Assembly. The Board of General Superintendents approved an alternative way to conduct annual District Assembly business. So, on May 26, the District Advisory Committee met by video for the 106th Georgia District Assembly. We give God glory for another great year on the Georgia District! A printed copy of the 2020 District Handbook will be mailed to each church in June and a digital copy will be available also.

Our 2021 District Assembly will be held at Dublin First on May 18-20, 2021.

Camp Meeting

After much prayer and listening to each other, the District Advisory Committee made the tough decision to cancel the 2020 Georgia District Camp Meeting. We will definitely miss Summer Camp Meeting, but with all factors considered, this seems to be the best decision at this time. However, we are happy to announce a 2020 Fall Weekend Camp Meeting (September 18-20) that will merge with the Fall Adult Retreat already scheduled at that time. Watch for more details soon. Thanks for your prayers, patience, and faithfulness as we walk through this strange season together!

Connection & Enrichment

We are grateful for our pastors who are leading and serving so well during this strange season! Many of them gathered by video in May for a couple of very helpful enrichment sessions. On May 12, Dr. David Busic led “The Praying Pastor” with our pastors and their spouses. Then, on May 19, Dr. Jay Height led “Connecting While Distancing: Compassion in the New Era".
