Hello Georgia Nazarenes!

It's hard to believe that November is already here! As the new year rapidly approaches, we want you to know about an exciting new event coming to your area: Nights of Worship & Prayer 2020 .

As I travel the state, I am convinced that we need more opportunities to connect with each other, and to worship and pray together. So, please mark your calendars and make plans to join us. We are planning for eight different, dynamic Sunday evenings in various regions. (see list in the pic on the left).
Here's the schedule for each evening:

Alma First Welcomes
Pastor Dan Taylor

Welcome to  Dan Taylor  as the new Pastor at Alma First Church of the Nazarene! Dan comes to Alma First with a strong background of ministry in the Congregational Methodist Church. Dan also has an extensive accounting background and serves on the Bacon County School Board. Dan is married to April, and they have three sons (L to R: Cale, Tait, and Hayden). More great days are ahead for Alma First!

Crossroads Welcomes
Pastor Rick Carney

Welcome to Rick Carney as the new Pastor at Crossroads Church of the Nazarene (Cumming, GA). Rick has served in volunteer and associate ministry for several years at Gainesville First Church of the Nazarene. Rick begins at Crossroads on Nov. 10 and will be bi-vocational, while he continues as President of Condor Portables, Inc.. Rick is married to Michele, and they have three children: Lauren (26), Leah (21), and Erick (20).
OCTOBER HIGHLIGHTS

Celebrate 50 Years of Ministry

Marietta First hosted a special celebration for Pastor Gerry & Chris Carnes honoring them for 50 years of marriage and ministry. A highlight of the evening was when the church dedicated and named a new pavilion in their honor, and the Carnes' grandchildren read Scriptures that will be posted on plaques in the four corners of the new pavilion. Congratulations to the Carnes!

Black Pastors' DCPI Event

In October, the Georgia District and New Day Church of the Nazarene partnered with Dr. Charles Tillman, and the USA/Canada Black Strategy Team to host a church planting training event for a great group of leaders. Georgia leaders participating were Rev. Michael Appleberry, Pastor Michael McCants, Dr. Fred Huff, and Pastor Dale Taylor. The July 2020 USA/Canada Black Nazarene Conference will be held at Stone Mountain, GA.








Mount Olive Celebrates
100th Anniversary

Congratulations to Mount Olive Church of the Nazarene! On Sunday, October 27, Pastor Tim Tharp led the church in a great centennial celebration of the church's history and mission. Dr. Jesse MIddendorf (Gen. Superintendent Emeritus) was the special speaker and TNU's Redeemed provided special music.

Fall Work Week

Thank you to everyone who participated in Fall Work Week at Adrian Camp! Projects included work on the Camp Manager's roof, construction of a new storage building for children's ministries, and new backstairs/porch for the kitchen staff.

Pastors Enrichment Day with Dr. Oliver Phillips
The Elephant in the Room -Bridging the Cultural Divide
Saturday, Jan. 11 @ New Day

Dr. Oliver Phillips, a retired, ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene and former director of Nazarene Multi-Cultural Ministries, will lead this CQ Enhancement seminar. Cultural Intelligence (CQ) is the capability to function effectively in a variety of cultural contexts - including national, ethnic, organizational, generational, and many other cultures. All GA pastors & their spouses are invited to join us in Chattanooga, TN for the 2020 Pastors & Spouses Retreat. Based on feedback, this year's location (Chattanooga Downtown DoubleTree) and format (Thursday - Saturday) are brand new. We can't wait to relax & renew with our GA ministry team! Larry Dennis has gratefully served as pastor and district superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene for over 40 years. He and wife Debbie reside in Spring Hill, Tn. They have three sons Matt, Ben and Andy, Daughter-in-law Amy and 6 year old grandson Noah. He is a TNU Grad, earned a MCM from Olivet, is a grad of the School of Large Church Management and was honored with a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Trevecca.
